I’m a big fish and chips fan. Original from Rhode Island, The Ocean State, I had high expectations. Previous photos of the fish looked really good too! So I wasn’t mad when the plate arrived but immediately noticed it was missing coleslaw. I asked the runner where it was and they said they would bring it out. It never came but it definitely would have helped: the fish was over salted. There was nothing to cut through the intensity. Usually fish and chips have a lemon side to support but they use a dried lemon peel/essence. Looks pretty and tasty, but eventually falls off and into the fries.

Came here for dinner with some friends and all our kids on a friday evening. We ordered the crispy shrimp and spicy shrimp to start..both we good. I ordered the seabass. It was okay…nothing to write home about. Our friends ordered the sushi tower and there was a hair on one of the pieces of sashimi. When the waiter came to get the plate he asked if they wanted the last piece and they said no thanks and simply stated why. Sushi is expensive, and not even a couple bucks was taken off the check for it. Didn’t seem like there was much local caught stuff on the menu..we probably won’t be back which is too bad because the atmosphere is nice.

Already a delicious staple for our family combined with stunning views to create the perfect venue for our rehearsal dinner. Peohe's amazing food as well as flexibility and meticulous planning led to a delicious event that stuck in the minds of our guests eagerly awaiting our wedding! The servers were so conscientious and considerate, particularly towards us bride and groom, for any dish they heard we were enjoying during the cocktail hour. They were also extremely personable, congratulatory, and welcoming our guests, elevating the experience to an even higher quality than we expected!

Food quality was excellent, and our server was consistently kind and respectful throughout the evening. However, it was clear the restaurant was understaffed, which significantly affected the overall experience. While I understand the challenges of limited staffing, the lack of attentiveness at our table became frustrating, especially given the restaurant’s reputation as a high-end establishment. Someone who worked as a servers this shouldn’t have been a problem. Several issues compounded this impression. Early on, a food runner accidentally spilled soy sauce on my brother’s shoes, which set the tone for a series of service missteps. Same staff member made a remarked that plates should have been cleared earlier, reinforcing the sense of disorganization. Additionally, our table was uncomfortably cold, and despite multiple requests, the heaters were never turned on. Eventually, the heaters got turned on after 10 minutes. Additionally, The fact the manager went to another table and asked for lap blankets at the end of the night to a bigger party, made it obvious they prioritize money over customer service. This made it difficult to fully enjoy what should have been a relaxing dining experience. After waiting approximately 45 minutes, we flagged down an employee who was not our server. Rather than assisting us courteously, he responded with visible annoyance, which was disappointing and unprofessional. For a restaurant with such a beautiful setting and strong reputation, the service did not meet expectations. As a visitor coming to see family in San Diego, this experience was disappointing. While the food and views were highlights, the overall atmosphere and service fell short of what one would expect at this price point. Unfortunately, I would not return or recommend this restaurant, as there are better options in the area that provide both quality food and service.

I can remember when this place was awesome. There were indoor rivers with fish swimming around and aquariums. It was unique and beautiful. The inside decor of this place now is awful. Eat outside if you can. The beautiful ocean is just outside and the decor is more tolerable. With as expensive as things are these days, if feels like everyone at Peohe's has just stopped trying. Food was mediocre. Service the same. Wife and I before we were married, this was our first "real date" spot. The nostalgia of this place doesn't exist anymore. We have eaten at many better oceanfront restaurants here in San Diego. It is just sad what this place has become. I guess nothing stays the same after 35years.
