I came into the boutique during Mother’s Day week to surprise my mom with her very first Van Cleef & Arpels piece, and unfortunately the experience was incredibly disappointing. There was no warmth, excitement, or effort from our SA to make the experience feel special. No education on the brand or pieces, no hospitality, and overall we were made to feel as though we didn’t belong there. Completely contrary to what I would expect from a luxury maison.
This was especially upsetting because it was my mother’s first luxury jewelry experience and I wanted it to feel memorable, celebratory, and worthy of the occasion. Instead, the interaction felt cold, dismissive, and transactional. I also asked for follow-up regarding another piece I wanted to order and never heard back.
Ironically, we went to Cartier afterward and had the complete opposite experience — warm, welcoming, attentive, and genuinely excited to share the history behind the pieces.
I’ve shopped luxury boutiques around the world, including Paris, and have never felt so unwelcome. I ended up buying a piece but am regretting it.
Huge thanks to Ida and Ben (Mgr) for the outstanding service. They were knowledgeable, courteous, and made sure everything was taken care of quickly. Really appreciated the extra effort! Work with Ida if you ever visit this place.
Went to get a bracelet serviced, and was told it would be a 20 min wait, which is fine, but then was proceeded be told, we had to wait outside! An 8k bracelet to then be told to wait outside. I can buy nicer jewelry at other stores, and be treated with more respect!
