    Charged $270 for smoking in the room when I never did. I smoked in the parking lot by the ashtray. My kids were in the room and I would never smoke inside around my kids. Ridiculous! I’ve been to 43 states and stayed in countless hotels and never had this happen before.

    As a longtime Best Western Gold member with more than a decade of loyalty and dozens of stays, my experience at Best Western Buffalo Ridge Inn was extremely disappointing. I specifically reserved and confirmed a ground-floor ADA-accessible room with two beds because both my father and I are unable to carry luggage upstairs. On the day of arrival, after spending over an hour being bounced between the hotel and corporate customer service, I was informed that our reserved room had been given away. We were told our only option was an upstairs room requiring stairs, and that no refund would be provided. When we arrived, there were numerous unassigned rooms still available. The sole employee on duty insisted there were no remaining ground-floor rooms with two beds. However, another party in our group checked in after us and was immediately assigned exactly that type of room. Thankfully they switched rooms with us, though even that was met with resistance and attitude from the front desk. What bothered me most was not the mistake itself, but the complete lack of accountability, empathy, or apology. The only explanation offered was that the employee was "new." Accessibility accommodations are not optional conveniences—they are necessities for many travelers. After this experience, I no longer feel confident that Best Western Buffalo Ridge Inn takes the needs of guests with disabilities seriously. Unfortunately, after years of loyalty to the Best Western brand, I will be looking elsewhere for future stays.

    We stayed in the rooms off the hallway next to the pool. The hallway was very poorly lit as was the room. Most of the outlets were very loose. The room looked like it had been cleaned, but the bathroom was disgusting. Whoever painted last had painted copious amounts of hair into the wall (see photos) and the grout between the tub and floor was filthy. Service is rated poor because the "hot" food at breakfast was luke warm or cold. Either the employees weren't heating it properly or the serving plates weren't set high enough. Breakfast selection was also poor.

    This hotel had the best breakfast options of all the places I stayed at in the Black Hills. Service was great - they had my room keys ready when I checked in. Rooms are quite large. The AC unit kept turning on/off, which took some getting used to (I usually just keep the fan on constantly, but that wasn’t an option).

    On the night we arrived and after we got to our room was going to relax after a long drive and one of the pillows was covered in hair. I inspected the rest of the bed and did not see any hair, so went to front desk and asked for the pillow to be exchanged and for my room to be cleaned the next day and for the sheets to be changed. Arrived after site seeing the next day and room was straightened up but sheets not cleaned would have went to front desk again but was 7pm at night. The heat/air unit in the room when turned on low fan sounded like a jet engine in the room.
