Absolutely HEINOUS service. This hotel was already filled up for the night, but I booked a room through Expedia not knowing this. Obviously not the hotel’s fault, because they were under the impression Expedia would contact me, I was never contacted. So I have the original $89 room I booked, and then one person cancelled, so they were able to give me a $139 room with a king size bed (I requested 2 queens), but here I am ultimately getting charged $200 for a room with a messed up looking bathroom door, the world’s noisiest AC unit, and a parking situation that is completely and utterly heinous. The front desk attendant was also incredibly apathetic and snotty.
I will be contacting corporate of Best Western and Expedia if I am charged for both of these rooms, and I will be filing legal action if nothing gets done, because this is NOT my fault at all. I’m out here trying to visit my family halfway across the country and instead I’m getting charged an obscene amount for something NOT my fault, and it shouldn’t have to be my fault to resolve it.
Would highly recommend staying anywhere but here! Staff was actually very friendly which was really the only positive to this place. Room is no smoking but reeked like cigs, ants and bugs all over the room walls and ac unit, fitness room has minimal equipment which would be fine but it’s all broken, brown stains all over curtain, doors do not close with ease, carpet was sticky in spots. If everywhere is booked out I’d recommend sleeping in your car In a well lit parking lot

Additional to the room charge they require a CASH ONLY deposit of 150$. This is the highest deposit I have ever experienced, and I've stayed in numerous hotels across the United States. The lack of clear discretion regarding this deposit (both on their website during booking and in the fine details about payment and deposit received in the email confirmation) AND the inflexibility to charge the deposit on the same credit card used to book, was a setback and caused my husband and I to cancel our reservation.
Despite what the Customer Support reply below my review says - there is no indication of the deposit amount being required anywhere in the booking information, nor in the confirmation details. See for yourself.
When traveling without my wife, just needing a place to sleep for the night, I'll often stay in a budget motel if available. I had to make a quick trip to Lake Erie and turn around the next morning, this Best Western in Elyria OH had overall good reviews, so I booked a room. When I arrived, I was very pleased. The parking lot is well lit and easily accessible to the rooms. I was impressed with the security...the exit doors needed the card key, no matter the time of the day. My room was as clean as any I would expect in a much more expensive inn. The beds were well made, and comfortable, all surfaces were clean, and the walls and bathroom were very clean.
The property is a little dated, but the staff was very friendly, the room was great, though I didn't use the indoor heated pool, there were many families enjoying it. Breakfast was much better than I had expected, eggs, sausage, breakfast potatoes, bagels, toast, yogurt, cereal...and the staff took pride in keeping it well stocked, and hot. Great stay, good job!
Staying here I was a little nervous based on what the reviews were saying but honestly I don’t know why they were so unfairly harsh. Staff were very nice and gave me extra makeup wipes, breakfast was better than I thought, I didn’t smell any smoke smells, and my room was nice and clean. I would stay here again, but with that being said two things I would recommend fixing are having a spoon with holes on the bottom for the scrambled eggs so that the steaming egg water doesn’t go on peoples plates and secondly, a deodorizer for the fridge as it did leave old food smells on my water bottles. Thank you for my stay! If I’m in the Cleveland area again I will gladly be here.
