  Updated review: elevators were working by the next day and hit breakfast was back as well. I updated my review to reflect that. Previous review: I’m staying in the aftermath of the storms that hit NWI. I was not expecting perfection. However, being that the hotel is running on a generator and cannot provide certain services and the fact that this is an emergency I expected to be paying prices that reflect that. I was told that they were using standard pricing regardless because the storm wasn’t their fault. It was no one’s fault but to pay full price for less than full service is robbery and best western can afford to do better especially for people in need.

  Overall, my stay at the Best Western in Hammond was extremely disappointing. The room itself was only okay. The toilet constantly ran, the walls had chipped paint, and there was a strange odor throughout the room. I do want to give credit where it’s due… the two breakfast young ladies were incredibly sweet, welcoming, and kind. They were the highlight of my experience. Unfortunately, everything else went downhill. As I was heading to the breakfast area, I overheard a front desk employee (Amy) tell another staff member that there was a mouse trapped in the breakfast area. The employee immediately went toward the breakfast area, and I turned around and left. That is a serious health concern and completely unacceptable for a hotel serving food. Because the toilet in my room wasn’t working properly, I was told to use the public restroom until maintenance arrived. The public restroom was disgusting. The floors were filthy, there was no toilet paper, and the smell was unbearable. It was obvious that the restroom was not being properly maintained. To make matters worse, the way the general manager speaks to guests is incredibly unprofessional and unwelcoming. Customer service starts at the top, and it definitely shows. Overall, I would not recommend staying here. Aside from the some staff, the cleanliness issues, maintenance problems, the mouse near the breakfast area, and the poor management made this one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve had.

  I’m an hotel optimist ( first mistake) . I booked this hotel with hopes of a comfortable room and good service. I received nice and pleasant service from the employees. HOWEVER, the rooms are a different story. As soon as I stepped into mine, you could just smell the humidity. I turned the a/c up to see if I could get rid of that sensation and a little of that humid smell. Then I decided to go to sleep and at 5 AM IN THE MORNING, you can hear this incredibly LOUD WRENCHING DRILL sound. I believe this was the maintenance people. I went to the front desk and asked if this will be every night or just that night that this noise would be happening( the noise went on for about an hour and half) , they told me that this was only for that night. Lies. The third night it happened again. Also want to point out that all the bed had to it was 2 very very thin sheets to cover yourself with …

  This hotel is very clean and mostly pretty quiet. The staff are friendly and helpful. There are coin operated laundry facilities, a fitness room, and an outdoor pool. They also serve a complimentary hot breakfast daily. Easy access to the interstate. The only reason for 3 stars on location is due to the fact that anywhere you'd want to go (shopping, restaurants, etc) is a little far away. If you don't have a car, it's a far walk to places and there are no sidewalks on the access road that it's located on. Other than that it was a great experience staying here.
