⭐ 1/5 — The Most Disappointing Hotel Experience
This was easily one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I’ve had. The property was extremely overpriced for the quality and condition, and the photos online were very misleading compared with what we actually experienced.
The pool was completely out of service, and there was construction taking place around the pool area. This also made it extremely difficult to use the already very small, minimally equipped fitness area. What should have been a basic amenity was essentially unusable.
The condition of the room and common areas was very outdated and poorly maintained. There were cracks and peeling areas on the ceiling in our room, and the elevator was an experience in itself. It was extremely small, had a broken fan, and a cracked ceiling. Even worse, the elevator did not properly connect to the floor from the lobby/entrance, making it extremely difficult to get luggage and a stroller from the entrance to our room.
The service was just as disappointing. At breakfast, our food was served cold, and when we requested bedding for the sofa sleeper, the hotel refused to provide it.
To make matters worse, our room faced a busy road, and the traffic noise was extremely loud throughout the night, making it difficult to get a good night’s sleep.
Overall, the property feels very outdated and significantly different from how it is represented in the online photos. Between the closed pool, construction, poor room condition, inadequate amenities, cold food, lack of basic accommodations, elevator issues, and constant traffic noise, there simply was not enough value to justify the price.
Overall: overpriced and under-quality. I would not stay here again and would not recommend it unless the property undergoes a significant renovation and improves both its maintenance and guest service.

The staff was not friendly , I had previously called before making my reservation online and they told me that the pool was open and working and when I arrived they told me that it was temporarily closed and also the building is just old and it has a weird smell to it , there were socks from the people that stayed before in my room , spider webs and dead spiders on the lamps, hairs on the restroom walls and sink.

Absolutely horrible experience. I genuinely regret staying here. From the moment I arrived, everything felt disappointing and poorly handled. The room was nowhere near the standard I expected, and the entire stay was frustrating.
For what they charge, this place should be dramatically better. The experience was so bad that I would have rather spent my money somewhere else entirely.
I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. There are plenty of better options, and I will never stay here again. Save yourself the headache, save your money, and stay somewhere else.

We come a couple times a year to visit, drop off and pick up our son from college, and have been staying at this location since Nov 2024. Although this hotel is older, and not as perfectly put together as a lot of the hotels in the area that are newer, the price can't be beat. The location is TOP NOTCH, only a short walking distance to the Magnificent Mile and all these things to do around there, including the train. Do not go in expecting anything fancy, because that is NOT this place, it is old, and it's obvious, but it is clean and well maintained. The staff is super friendly and helpful. They always take care of us, and we are grateful for them. The restaurant, Pizzeria Ora, has an excellent breakfast and wait staff. We have enjoyed that place at every visit. Cant recall the waiters name right now, maybe Luis?, but he is there to serve us year after year. Again, it is old, and has MANY layers of paint on the walls, it has never been gutted and remodeled that I can see, but it is a neat little place and we are happy to stay there.

We chose this hotel because the reviews were generally favorable, the location was very convenient, and the price seemed reasonable for downtown Chicago. Unfortunately, after staying for 3 nights, I think the hotel is quite dated and could use some serious updating. The biggest issue for us was the smell. The hallways had a very strong, stale smell that was noticeable every time we walked through the hotel. The layout is also quite confusing and maze-like, which made getting around the building a little frustrating. The rooms themselves were okay, but our room with 2 beds felt quite small for 3 adults. There was no mini fridge and not much extra storage/closet space, which would have been helpful for a longer stay. The beds were clean and comfortable although a little small, and our bathroom was in decent condition, so those were positives. The towels were also extremely thin and felt like they had seen better days. One other thing that was strange was the bottled water situation. We were given complimentary bottles of water on our first night, but when we asked about getting more the second night, we were told they were no longer able to provide them and that we would have to purchase them. I understand that complimentary water isn’t necessarily guaranteed, but the inconsistent information was confusing. That said, the location is definitely the hotel’s biggest advantage. It’s within easy walking distance of many restaurants, bars and attractions, and we felt safe in the area throughout our 3-night stay. The room was usable for a short trip. For us, though, the hotel didn’t feel like particularly good value. I think I would have rather spent a little more for a newer, cleaner and more comfortable property. The location is excellent, but the hotel’s condition and overall atmosphere really brought down the experience.
