Food: 4 stars.Service: zero.My recommendation: Go elsewhere.
Walked past the place looking for a small lunch around 11:30 on a Monday. One of their staff in uniform stood outside, and like a hawker stepped up ushering us inside. Why not, place looked alright. Once inside, we saw they weren't busy, only one other couple was in the dining area.
It was after sitting down, that it became apparent the hawker had two personalities: Pleasant and polite to entice you inside; after seating you, he does a 180 and turns pushy, impatient, and unpleasant. Should have gotten up and left but we didn't.
As it turned out, he was a waiter, too; he dropped off the menu and disappeared. Took quite some time for him to return to take our order. He was visibly upset that we wanted to split one pizza with two drinks - we're both skinny people, neither of us a big eater and would never manage to eat the whole thing. He took off and about twenty minutes later brought the food, which was nothing special but good, nonetheless.
A different waiter showed up to clear the table and drop off the check. Then the original waiter returned to collect the payment, which was in cash. He made a big production of counting out the change.
Pay attention now: If you're from out of country and not familiar with Swiss currency and denominations - Don't even think about counting the change! I started to add it up myself. Now the waiter *really* became agitated, took the money out of my hand, raised his voice, and slapped each bill and coin on the table "See? Ok?" No, not ok. Not by a long shot. Even the couple at the next table started to look up, getting interested.
Long story short: The food was good but the service bad enough to sour the entire meal. I should have read the reviews with similar "service" experiences here prior to visiting.
Looking back over many years and several countries, I don't recall restaurant service this bad. Ever. Piazza Italia has left a lasting impression, just not a good one.
The receipt included simply so nobody comes back that we were never there.
