On August 16th, I attempted to book a last-minute reservation for my wife and me at the Best Western Plus Point Pelee Hotel. Every time I called the main Guest Services line, the call automatically disconnected after five rings. I tried calling six times over the course of an hour with no success.
Hoping to reach someone, I left a voicemail with my phone number for the Sales Manager (x3) detailing the phone system issues and my intent to book a room. I later left a similar voicemail for the General Manager, Chris Long (x7).
I am extremely disappointed that several days after returning home, neither manager has bothered to return my call. As a business in the hospitality industry, ignoring prospective guests is unacceptable. I expect far better customer service and accountability from management. I have also detailed this experience in a Google Review and forwarded my concerns directly to Sunray Group.

Brought our grandchildren who are 8 and 10 for a fun night of playing in the pool and on the waterslide only to be told the are too tall. You basically have to be the size of a six year old to go down the slide. They have a chart as well as a piece of pcp pipe to measure the kids. My grandson was the exact same size of the pipe. One lifeguard said he was fine the other one said no, so the one who originally said he was fine now all of the sudden says I do not feel comfortable allowing him to go on the slide. So I have to very disappointed grandkids that just want to leave the hotel. If I had not paid what I did to stay here for the night I would have left.
So, please be aware if you are bringing your kids for just a fun family night make sure you measure their heights beforehand.
This will be our last time here and will be not recommending it to anyone.
The ABSOLUTE WORST HOTEL I have ever stayed at. I absolutely do NOT recommend this place.
We made our reservation weeks in advance, paid for it, and the hotel knew well ahead of time that we were coming. When we arrived, they gave us a room with a broken door. As if that wasn’t bad enough, the air conditioning didn’t work either. In the middle of summer, they put some ridiculous, extremely noisy fan in the room as if we were supposed to survive in the heat. The room was 24°C and it was absolutely unbearable.
Eventually, they moved us to another room. And that room was a whole other disaster: 23°C, still no working air conditioning, and yet another fan. On top of all that, there was absolutely NO hot water!
The hotel was practically empty. So here’s what I don’t understand: if you have so many empty rooms, why on earth would you give a customer who made a reservation and paid in advance a room with a broken door and no working air conditioning? People come to a hotel to relax, unwind, and enjoy their time away. Instead, you completely ruined our stay and put us through an unbelievable amount of frustration.
Not even being able to provide basic necessities like working air conditioning and hot water is completely unacceptable for a hotel. And giving a paying customer a room in these conditions after knowing about the reservation in advance is absolutely ridiculous.
We came here to relax, and instead we’re leaving angry and completely exhausted.
I absolutely do NOT recommend this hotel. I am extremely disappointed with what we received for the money we paid. I would never stay here again, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.
Staff and location - 5 stars for sure.
The lobby is beautiful.
The "Fun Zone" was fun.
Water slides are only open certain times and you must be UNDER 4 FEET TALL to use them. This is a TSSA regulation that the hotel must follow. It was extremely disappointing to our kids. I wish this information was posted somewhere. Maybe it was and I missed it.
The pool and slides are not as large as they appear in the photo, but still a good size for a hotel.
Badminton and ping pong were tons of fun. Indoor playground structure is for all ages and also fun. Fun Zone includes basketball net and small arcade area. The zone was nicely air-conditioned.
The pool tables were both out of order, so that was also disappointing.
The rooms were clean but we had a lot of issues with dampness and a musty smell. We discovered right away that the fridge was not working, so the maintenance guy took care of it right away, but it had defrosted and water had leaked out onto the carpet underneath the unit. We requested and received a different room because of the smell.
The next room was better, but was still a bit musty and the linens felt damp/humid. We tried cranking the A/C. Later we tried cranking the heat. We finally turned the unit off entirely and that seemed to solve the issue.
Because of this, we would not return. It's possible it's due to the indoor pool being close by, but the rest of the hotel did not seem smelly or humid. I suspect the HVAC units need servicing or something.
*DECEPTIVE PRICE GOUGING*
This location actively engages in intentional and unethical practices. When we reserved our hotel stay for a family vacation a month in advanced and asked just before the free cancellation period, we asked if the pool would be available during our stay Tuesday-Friday in august, we were told by the front desk customer service area that there was "planned contractor work for renovations and that the pool would be off limits" during our stay.
We had no choice but to cancel our family trip there as the primary reason for staying there was for the pool amenities. We then booked another hotel at 2x the price on short notice during the busy period of summer.
We then called a day before our family trip to see if in fact the pool was closed, and to our surprise the front desk told us that the pool would remain open during this time as the contractors had been delayed by "rain".
What hotel does renovations during there peak season and further more a delay to the following week because of rain? Total BS, they did this so they could get the room from us and sold it to someone else for more money, this is a scummy tactic they used and they know it.
The hotel is run by the "the Sunray Group" avoid any hotels managed by these investors.
