This particular best western hotel is the most ridiculous/horrible one I have ever stayed at.
Firstly, I checked in with a cigarette/musty smell in my room which I had to call the reception to inform them as I had read in the reviews and could see clearly that they always find ways to make people pay for damages. Only to receive a $60 fine for parking at the co-op park (N.B I wasn’t blocking any car). They want you to make that mistake and charge you, a simple reminder on the first day would have made sense!!!!!!! In Peter’s voice, they had to charge me $60 for two days to avoid being towed! Lol weird!!! Or maybe if you are using this energy and funds to make a better signage for your customers would have been better. A simple message asking me to evacuate the car would have MADE SENSE just the same way I received a text informing me that my credit card had been charged. Am I surprised? No, after I read a review about them charging someone $12 for staining their old looking face towel. I was even scared to move around in this room before I will get charged for moving too much. I even slipped inside the bath tub because it’s an old one and was very slippery!
I only booked this best western based on my awesome experience with the other ones I’ve stayed at. Maybe if I had read the reviews before booking, this would have been a different story. If I could give a zero star, trust me I would.
I spoke with their manager about this and he spoke to me exactly the way he replies to the reviews, defensive and all LOL! I will never come back here again. Still thinking if I will book other best western based on my experience here! Never again!!!

Just as expected from you.
Oh you lied Peter, I said I have been booking best western hence the reason why I am a platinum member, do I expect any better reply from you? No! Always defensive and all, so I’m not surprised. I never said that because I’m a platinum member, parking doesn’t apply to me. See why you have to let your clients speak before interrupting. I remember telling you to let me speak!
You have a camera at your lobby, during your break time go and watch it again and provide where I was rude and yelled at your employee.
Despite ongoing renos the staff here went very much out of their way to help you and are very friendly. Breakfast was good. We had reserved 2 queen's and had 2 doubles but that was the only negative the whole stay.
Recently stayed at the Best Western Plus South Edmonton Inn & Suites with a large group, and could not have possibly had a better experience.
Peter went above and beyond to ensure that everyone was looked after, and happy with their stay. Whatever they're paying him, it's not enough!
The rooms were spotless, with hot showers and comfortable beds. Blackout curtains also help with the sun staying up late into the night.
Breakfast buffet is one of the best I've come across, with warm eggs, potatoes, and meat. On top of that, there's a waffle maker, and plenty of other carb options! The employee working the breakfast room is very friendly, and always makes sure that everything is clean and in order.
As long as Peter is managing this establishment, I can't see myself staying anywhere else when passing through Edmonton.

We had a fantastic stay at the Best Western Plus. The rooms were spotless, comfortable, and well maintained. The pool area was clean and clearly cared for, which made it enjoyable for our family. What really stood out was the exceptional customer service. Peter Smith and his team went above and beyond to ensure we had a great experience from start to finish. Their friendliness and attention to detail made us feel truly welcome. We highly recommend this hotel and look forward to staying here again in the future. Thank you, Peter and staff, for making our visit so memorable!

UPDATE in response to the owner’s reply:
I was not contacted through “multiple emails” before posting my review. Communication only occurred after my review was submitted.
Renovations were not communicated during booking or check-in, so assuming I was “positive” aware of them during my stay is inaccurate.
The correction about breakfast wording is unnecessary and does not address the concerns raised.
The main issue remains the $12 charge for a lightly stained facecloth, which still feels excessive for what appeared to be normal use and was not clearly communicated at the time of stay. Furthermore the “evidential” photos sent were not consistent.
Overall, I am disappointed with how the situation has been handled. A more constructive, less defensive approach to customer feedback would go a long way in addressing concerns and improving guest experience.
I stand by my original review regarding the overall experience. But this takes the cake and 2 stars is too generous for this experience. If I could give 0 I would.
Very disappointed with my experience at Best Western. I was charged for “damages” over what appeared to be normal use of a face cloth, which I find completely unreasonable. I contacted customer service regarding the charge and refund and still have not received a proper response or resolution. The charge was $12 dollars for a crusty cloth. Photo of their considered “damages” are attached. Best Western Plus charging $12 dollars to every customer that uses a face cloth what a scam.
The overall stay was also very uncomfortable. The pillow cases had plastic coverings underneath that made them noisy and unpleasant to sleep on, the rooms were very dated and in need of updating, and the heating system was extremely loud, constantly kicking in and out throughout the night and making it difficult to sleep.
It’s frustrating to be treated this way as a paying customer. Normal wear should not result in unexpected charges, especially without fair communication or customer service follow-up. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I would not stay here again. I will be generous and give 2 stars only because the continental breakfast had good variety.
