We stayed in a standard queen room for one night. We needed a place close to the airport and location was only 5 minutes away. Plenty of parking. The rooms were comfortable but unfortunately they need some upkeep. The curtains were really dingy and dirty, the lamp shades were stained, the bath tub was stained, and the wall area by the air conditioning had caved in. The A/C sounded like a lawn mower every time it turned on. There’s a small restaurant in the lobby but you can’t order food from your room. Not a big concern but why have a menu in the room with a number to call to place your order then? For the price of the room we’d stay elsewhere next time.

I gave this four stars because I purchased one night on Hotwire for $130 and then the next night purchased a couple weeks later for $240 at the desk. It was just such a shocking change in price for me that I couldn't give five stars. Looking back maybe I should just be happy with the original deal that I got because it was a very nice hotel room.

Extremely disappointing experience at a Best Western Premier property. I'm only giving a 2star rating due to the airport shuttle drivers being very kind and informative. As you'll see my experience is one that I wouldn't wish upon anyone. I was traveling internationally and had just landed in Calgary when I checked into this hotel around 11:00 p.m. Shortly after arriving, I found an insect crawling on my pillow and then in my bed. I immediately contacted the front desk and requested to move rooms, but I was told no rooms were available. What was most frustrating goes beyond finding an insect where I was expected to sleep. The issue was the complete lack of urgency in addressing the situation. No fresh bedding was offered. No room inspection was offered. No meaningful attempt was made to make me comfortable staying in that room. The room also had additional cleanliness issues, including missing hand soap and a face towel with hair and visible dirt. The front desk associate told me that the General Manager would review the situation and indicated that a refund would be appropriate. What was particularly frustrating was the hotel's repeated emphasis that the insect appeared to be a "small flying insect," as though the fact that it had wings somehow made the experience less upsetting. The reality is that it was not flying when I found it—it was crawling on my pillow and in my bed after I had already settled into the room for the night. From a guest's perspective, that distinction is irrelevant. After my stay, I communicated directly with the General Manager through multiple emails. The hotel acknowledged my concerns but declined to provide a refund, instead offering only 5,000 Best Western Rewards points (approximately $50) after many exchanges. After a serious cleanliness concern involving an insect in the bed, this response showed a disappointing lack of compassion, ownership, and accountability. I also contacted Best Western Corporate. While they acknowledged my concerns, they explained that they could not require the franchise property to issue a refund. This experience highlighted a major concern: when a guest has a legitimate issue, there appears to be limited accountability to ensure that a property provides appropriate service recovery. The most disappointing part is that this situation appears to have become about avoiding a $103 refund rather than recognizing the value of restoring guest trust and protecting the reputation of the brand. A guest should be able to trust that a hotel will take care of them when something goes wrong and be held accountable when they do not. Based on this experience, I would not stay at this property again, and based on my conversation with Best Western corporate, I would think carefully before booking any Best Western property, knowing that corporate has no authority to intervene when a franchise location declines to provide what a guest believes is a reasonable resolution.

🚨 BEFORE YOU BOOK THIS HOTEL — READ THIS. 🚨 DIRTY. DISGUSTING. FILTHY. We booked a room at a hotel advertised as 4-star. What we walked into was absolutely unacceptable. The room smelled dirty. The carpet was damaged and stained. The bathroom door was damaged.knife holes in wall, And the shower curtain had fecal matter smeared across it. THIS IS WHAT WE WALKED INTO AFTER CHECKING INTO A GOOGLE RATED 4-STAR HOTEL. We took photos. We documented everything. We complained. The hotel moved us to another room—but that room had issues too. So we did what any reasonable guest would do… we brought our concerns directly to management. Then things got even more unbelievable. The General Manager asked us to meet in person. We showed him the photos from BOTH ROOMS. We explained exactly what happened. And how did the General Manager respond? He told us he had taken our negative review “personally” and that this was why he had become upset. Read that again. The General Manager was upset about the REVIEW. Meanwhile, we’re standing there showing him photographs of the condition of the rooms. We weren’t asking for special treatment. We weren’t asking for anything unreasonable. We were asking for accountability. And after showing him the evidence and explaining our concerns, the response we received was: “NO COMMENT.” That’s it. NO COMMENT. We also requested the hotel’s housekeeping, inspection, and maintenance records relating to the rooms. The hotel refused. We were told these were internal operational documents and would not be provided to guests. So let me get this straight: A guest checks into a room with serious cleanliness and maintenance concerns. The guest has to discover the problems. The guest has to photograph the problems. The guest has to complain. The guest gets moved to another room that also has issues. The guest then meets with the General Manager and shows him the photographs. And when the guest asks questions about how the room was inspected and approved for occupancy? NO COMMENT. But apparently, the review was taken personally. After looking through other guest reviews, we also found multiple complaints raising concerns about the cleanliness and condition of the property. At what point does a hotel stop calling these “isolated incidents” and start asking whether there is a bigger problem? This isn’t about expecting perfection. It’s about basic cleanliness, basic maintenance, and basic accountability. If I’m paying to stay at a hotel advertised as 4-star, I expect to walk into a room that is clean, inspected, and ready for a guest. I don’t expect to walk into a room that looks like this. And I certainly don’t expect management to be more offended by my review than concerned about why I had to write it in the first place. We were eventually offered a 50% discount on the first night’s room rate—not the three-night stay as we initially understood—and the alternative of reward points. But at this point, it’s not about the discount. It’s about the experience. It’s about how the situation was handled. And it’s about whether guests can trust that when they check into a hotel room, someone has actually inspected it and made sure it’s fit for occupancy. My advice? Before booking this hotel, READ THE REVIEWS. Look at the photos. Look at the patterns. And ask yourself whether you want to take the chance. Because based on our experience, we won’t be taking that chance again. 4-star rating. 1-star experience. And a management response that left us with more questions than answers. 📢 SHARE THIS.

Dirty. That is the only word I have for this hotel. I originally posted a review on our first day at the hotel, but after spending several more days here, I felt it was necessary to update it to accurately reflect our full experience. We checked in on Monday after several hours of travelling. The first thing I noticed was how hot the hallways were, which seemed unusual given that it was 31 degrees outside. When we entered our room, everyone immediately commented on the odour. It smelled as though someone had recently occupied the room, and if the bed had not been made, I would have assumed that it had not been cleaned prior to our arrival. Our concerns only grew from there. We found what appeared to be faecal matter on the shower curtain, greasy fingerprints covering the bathroom door, and crumbs on the carpet. The condition of the shower curtain was particularly alarming. We immediately notified the front desk, and I want to acknowledge that the employee who assisted us was professional and promptly moved us to another room. Unfortunately, the second room presented its own issues. As soon as we turned on the air conditioning, my entire family began sneezing and experiencing congestion. Although we were exhausted from travelling and decided to get some rest, we continued to notice troubling signs of poor cleanliness throughout the room, including stains on the bed sheets, crumbs and hair behind the bed, food on the carpet, hairspray residue on both the vanity and main mirrors, and, once again, greasy fingerprints on the bathroom door. My partner contacted the general manager, and in his initial response, he advised that we would receive a 50% discount on our stay. At the time, I viewed this as a genuine attempt to make things right. However, I still chose to post a Google review because I do not believe that a discounted rate excuses serious cleanliness concerns. Guests have a right to know the condition of the property they are paying to stay in. The following day, after our review had been posted, the general manager sent an updated invoice that applied the discount to only one night of our stay. From our perspective, the original offer changed after the review became public. When we raised our additional concerns regarding the condition of the hotel and our room, those concerns were largely ignored. In one email, the general manager asked us to stop by the front desk to discuss the situation in person, which we did on Wednesday evening, our final night at the hotel. During that conversation, he acknowledged that he had taken both our concerns and our review personally and apologized for our experience. However, he refused to accept responsibility for or acknowledge the overall condition of the property. For our own peace of mind, I requested copies of the hotel's cleaning records and logs. I made it clear that I was not seeking any personal employee information; rather, I wanted reassurance that the hotel was being maintained to the standards expected of a "Premier" property. The request was denied. While I understand that certain records may be confidential, the refusal to provide any evidence of cleaning standards only added to our concerns. I am not writing this review simply to vent about our experience. I am sharing it to inform other guests, particularly families, about the condition of this hotel and the level of customer service we encountered. Given the hotel's proximity to the airport, many travellers likely stay only briefly and may not notice or report these issues. Unfortunately, our experience left us feeling that management was unwilling to address legitimate concerns or take accountability when problems were raised. Our family's vacation was overshadowed by stress and disappointment, and based on our experience, I would strongly encourage prospective guests to carefully consider their options before booking this property.
