I called yesterday to inquire about the status of the current forest fires that are near the town as well as the air quality. This essentially determined whether or not I was going to cancel an upcoming reservation I had made prior to the worst of the forest fires starting up, even while acknowledging that non-essential travel has been limited. While attempting to inquire about these and the late cancellation fee, I was met with the rudest and most unprofessional response from a front desk staff I've ever received. After being unceremoniously transferred to a manager that did not respond, I called again and was met with the same person and attitude who then proceeded to hang up on me after I inquired for her name after inconsiderately stating that her name was "front desk" to avoid scrutiny and any kind of follow-up from management. I understand that it is stressful time for the province, and non-essential travelers are being limited, however that is no excuse for lackadaisical and down-right rude treatment from front desk staff, even if that staff member is the only one working at the time. It is unlikely that I will be booking any kind of stay at this location ever again. Given the proclivity of low reviews at this location, I am unfortunately not at all surprised. At least she did her job and cancelled the booking.

⭐️ Very disappointing experience. I contacted the property several days before our trip and was assured that everything was fine. I even called again on Friday morning before driving there and was told everything was okay. We drove over four hours to get there. The following morning, a wildfire evacuation order was put in place and we were required to leave. Our reservation was for two nights, but we could not complete our stay. What was even more disappointing was how the situation was handled afterward. The property claimed that our reservation was “fully utilized,” which is simply not true. Expedia’s response was equally disappointing. They simply rejected my request and claimed that they had called me and that I did not answer, even though no call was ever received on my phone and I have no missed call from them whatsoever. I understand that the wildfire evacuation was beyond the property’s control. However, the way the situation was handled afterward and the lack of a fair resolution were extremely disappointing.

Our breakfast was good, and we really enjoyed the yard, indoor and outdoor pools, and outdoor seating area. Unfortunately, there were several issues that made our stay disappointing. We had called ahead to let the hotel know our estimated arrival time. After traveling for about six hours after work, and dealing with poor air quality from wildfires along the way, we were exhausted and looking forward to getting some rest and taking a shower. When the three of us arrived, the room had only been prepared for two people. We needed an additional duvet/blanket and bedsheets for the third guest. Since there was no one at the front desk, it took more than an hour of phone calls, explanations, and clarification to get assistance. We were initially told that we would have to wait until the next morning. After a very long conversation, we finally told them that if this basic issue could not be resolved, we would leave a one-star review. Only after we mentioned the one-star review were we finally given the option to go to the office and pick up an additional duvet and bedsheets for the third person. To make matters worse, there was not even a drop of shampoo in the bathroom. The coffee maker also wasn't working, but after dealing with the bedding issue for so long, we simply didn't have the energy to raise another complaint. We were also told that rooms are cleaned only once a week and that guests have to personally request room service, which was not what we expected. We appreciated the hotel's facilities, but the room not being properly prepared for three guests, the lack of basic amenities, and especially the difficulty of getting such a basic request resolved made our arrival unnecessarily stressful. Overall, the experience did not meet our expectations.

This was our third consecutive year staying at this hotel, and unfortunately, this visit was noticeably different from our previous stays. We’ve always enjoyed coming back, which is why it was especially disappointing to see how much the property has changed. Overall, it feels like the hotel has gone downhill. One of the biggest changes was the breakfast service. It now ends at 9:30 a.m., even though the sign still says 10:00 a.m., which was confusing until we asked. In previous years, there was a nice variety of BC fruit, whereas this time the selection was limited to oranges and apples. We were staying during peak season, so I understand that the hotel was extremely busy, but the breakfast area seemed consistently overwhelmed. Each day, there appeared to be fewer plates, cups and pieces of cutlery available, likely because guests were taking them back to their rooms. At one point, the hotel even ran out of napkins for three days. Reducing breakfast hours by half an hour seemed to make the entire experience feel even more rushed and crowded. I definitely don’t remember it being this way during our previous stays. Another noticeable change is the lack of pool towels. In previous years, towels were provided in the rooms for the beach, and there were additional towels available at the pool. This time, that was no longer the case, and the towels in the room are for the pool and beach. I also noticed that the tablecloths on the buffet tables were gone. Individually, these may seem like small changes, but together they give the impression that amenities and services are being cut back. Another issue was the availability of tables in the courtyard. Many guests, like us, are repeat visitors, but I noticed some families essentially claimed tables for their entire stay by leaving tablecloths and personal belongings on them. This made it difficult for other guests to find a place to sit, particularly during dinner when seating was limited. I understand wanting a particular table, but effectively reserving one for an entire stay felt unfair to other guests. We also spoke with another family during our stay who told us that the property had recently been sold. I can’t confirm whether that is the case or whether it explains some of the changes we noticed, but it was interesting that several other guests we spoke with, including repeat visitors also commented that the property seems to have gone downhill. It wasn’t just our impression; other returning guests were noticing the same things. Unfortunately, my biggest concern happened on checkout morning. At approximately 8:30 a.m., our door was locked, the deadbolt was engaged, and the Do Not Disturb sign was clearly displayed. Housekeeping knocked, and we didn’t answer because we were just getting up. They then attempted to open our door with their keycard before realizing the deadbolt was engaged. I was extremely disappointed by this. Checkout was not until 11:00 a.m., and with the Do Not Disturb sign clearly displayed, I don’t understand why housekeeping was attempting to enter our room in the first place. Regardless of the reason, guests should be able to expect their privacy to be respected when that sign is on the door. This was particularly concerning and left a very poor final impression of our stay. It’s unfortunate because we have stayed here for three consecutive years and genuinely want to keep coming back. There are still things we enjoy about the property, which is why I would consider returning in the future to see whether things improve. Hopefully management takes feedback from returning guests seriously. These may seem like small changes individually, but when you combine reduced amenities, a more chaotic breakfast experience, limited seating and a privacy concern during our stay, the overall experience is noticeably different from what we experienced in previous years.

This is a nice hotel and we had a good stay. I thought the courtyard with pool were really nice. The staff were really nice and they upgraded us for free without us asking, which was super kind. The breakfast itself was really good, but it seemed to suffer from under staffing, poor flow, and lack of cutlery and dishes. The staff people seemed perpetually overwhelmed each morning, and they were constantly out of plates, bowls, and cutlery and you often had to wait for the dishwasher loads to be done to get a plate/bowl/spoon. The flow of the area was also chaotic, with everything in the centre and quite crowded. Overall it was fine, it was a nice breakfast, but it was I'd say all together it was the worst set up I've experienced. My husband found it so stressful the first morning that he skipped it thereafter. With a few changes it could be a lot better. That being said, I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
