Extremely predatory and terrible at communication. 1. No technician came to my internet installation appointment 2. When no one came, I called them and they recommended switching to self installation so I could pick up the router myself and try. 3. I tried installing myself, ended up needing a technician anyway because none of the equipment they gave me was working out of the box. And it takes seven (7!) calls just to get someone to come to my home. 4. They charge me extra $30 just for the technician to come set things up. And "oh because you switched to self installation, the technician is no longer free". So basically I have to pay to fix their incompetency. 5. When the bill came suddenly it's $90 instead of the $40 I had initially signed up online. This is because of a. the hidden technician cost b. because apparently I did not set up autopay within the first month the price is now $10 more/month (did not see this mentioned anywhere either), and c. $15 late fee even though I had received NO communication whatsoever from Astound on billing or when payments were due. I would have gladly set up autopay and paid on time if you had simply sent me one (1) email or communication expecting me to :))))

I had an outstanding experience with technician Luke from Astound today. I was in a huge rush to head out, and Luke managed to get my new internet installed and tested in about 5 minutes without cutting any corners. Even though I indicated that I'll be using my own router when the installation appointment was made, he thoughtfully brought a spare one up with him just in case I needed it. He made sure I knew exactly how to set up my own equipment and even gave me a great pro-tip on how to quickly fix a common quirk with Ubiquiti devices. To top it off, when I ran into him in the elevator on my way out, I found out he had gone to the building's equipment room just to double-check that everything was perfectly configured on the backend. Fast, incredibly knowledgeable, and thorough. Highly recommend!

This is my first go round with Astound’s service. My property rep Jeremy and my technician Jordan were both so helpful and efficient in getting my service up and running. Jordan arrived quicker than expected when scheduling a service check and he was so quick, polite and knowledgeable as to how to get my service up and running! There were some minor wiring issues with the property line and they were serviced quickly. Very grateful and appreciative of the Astound team.

Avoid Astound if you value honesty. Astound charged me $30 for a “failed self-install” fee that was entirely their doing. I signed up for a promo that included free professional installation and scheduled a tech visit. Without my consent, they switched me to self-install, claiming I “qualified” — I was never given a clear window to object before the install date. The self-install failed — not because of anything I did, but because a technician later confirmed the ports needed to be switched, a network-side issue I had no way of diagnosing or fixing myself. When I called afterward to request professional install, I was told it was too late since it was already self-installed, and that I should’ve called sooner — despite no deadline ever being communicated to me. A rep was condescending about the $30 charge, blaming me for the timing. They also claimed no supervisor was available, promised a callback within 24 hours, and never followed through. This is a company that changes your service without consent, then charges you for it breaking. Do your research before signing up.

Do Not Choose Astound! Based on my experience, Astound has been one of the least transparent internet service providers I've used. I signed up for the most basic 100 Mbps plan, expecting the promotional pricing to remain consistent for the advertised period. Instead, my monthly bill increased multiple times with little transparency. Hidden Price Increases Like many other users reported, hidden price increases is the biggest issue with Astound. During my first few months, my bill was approximately $32 per month. However, the monthly charge gradually increased over time: • Month 5: Increased from $32 to $37 per month. • Month 13: Increased again to $41 per month. • Month 25: Increased to $56 per month. Over just two years, my monthly internet bill increased by 75%. While the initial promotional price may look attractive, be aware that the long-term cost can be significantly higher. The advertised savings disappear quickly as the monthly rate continues to rise. No Prorated Refunds Another disappointing policy is that Astound does not provide prorated refunds when you cancel your service. No matter when you cancel during your billing cycle—even if it's just a few days after your bill renews—you are still charged for the entire month's service. This policy was not clearly communicated during sign-up and made the cancellation process even more frustrating. Final Thoughts The combination of repeated price increases and a no-prorated-refund policy resulted in a much more expensive service than I originally expected. I recommend carefully reviewing the long-term pricing and cancellation policies before signing up, as the promotional rate may not reflect what you'll actually pay over time. However, the person works at the Astound SLU store was extremely helpful, polite, and professional. He is the reason why I give a 2-star review instead of 1 for Astound.
