    BE AWARE OF ASTOUND'S CANCELLATION AND BILLING POLICIES BEFORE SIGNING UP. I decided to cancel my Astound internet service after my monthly bill increased significantly once my promotional pricing ended. Before canceling, I contacted customer service to ask if there were any loyalty or retention discounts available for existing customers because I wanted to avoid the large price increase. I was told there were NO promotions available and that the available offers were only for new customers. The cancellation process itself was frustrating. You can NOT cancel online and are required to call customer service, where you are immediately put through the standard retention process. Ironically, I had contacted customer service the day before to ask whether there were any loyalty or retention discounts available for existing customers because I wanted to avoid the large price increase. I was told there were NO promotions available and that the available offers were only for new customers. However, the moment I called to cancel, suddenly there were multiple discounts and promotions available to convince me to stay. It felt misleading and frustrating. If those offers existed all along, why weren't existing customers told about them before they decided to leave? The representative also kept asking how much I was paying with my new provider. I declined to share that information, but they continued pressing the question, which felt unnecessary and invasive. To make matters worse, I canceled shortly after my new billing cycle began and was told I would still be charged for the entire month because Astound does not prorate service after cancellation. I asked the representative to explain why the policy works this way, but instead of providing a clear explanation, she simply repeated the policy almost word for word, like she was reading from a script. I understand this may be stated in the service agreement, but it's an unreasonable and unfriendly policy that leaves a bad taste in your mouth, especially when combined with a difficult cancellation process. Overall, the experience made it feel like Astound values customers only when they are trying to leave. Existing customers are told there are no promotions available, but the moment you try to cancel, all of a sudden there are discounts and special offers. That is NOT customer loyalty. That's trying to keep people from leaving at the last possible moment. For reference, I called to cancel on July 6 and was informed I would still be responsible for the remainder of my current billing cycle, which ends on July 24. Tip for current customers: If you're planning to cancel, do it during the last week of your billing cycle. Otherwise, you will likely end up paying for an entire month of service you won't be using. NOTE: Astound responded to my original review by saying customers can continue using the service until the end of the billing cycle. While that's technically true, it misses the point. Many customers cancel because they're moving or switching providers after a significant price increase once the promotional rate expires. In those situations, they may already have new internet service or no longer live at the address, so continuing to "have access" to Astound's service provides little or no value. They are still paying for service they no longer need or, in some cases, cannot even use.

    Daniel was extremely professional and quick with his service. My AC was pretty weak but he still came to my apartment in the heat to set up my internet. Highly recommend. 5 stars.
