The customer service rep would not cancel my service. Tried for 20 minutes to cancel and all I got were questions

I had a very concerning experience with Cox Communications.
A Cox truck showed up at my home with no appointment, no notice, and no service request from anyone in my household. We have Ring camera footage showing the Cox vehicle and representative at our property. We also saw the individual walk around the back of the house on our rear Ring live feed.
Shortly after that visit, our internet stopped working.
When we called Cox support, we were told Cox had not sent anyone to our home. When we explained that we had video of a Cox truck at our property and said we may need to contact police if Cox was denying knowledge of the person, the response was essentially that we probably should.
We then contacted the local Cox store, explained the situation, and were told to call the 1-800 number again. After about an hour on the phone with support and a manager, Cox finally acknowledged that our internet was not working, but still would not clearly explain who came to our property or why.
To make matters worse, we were told we may have to pay a $75 service fee for a technician visit if Cox determines the issue is with our equipment. Our internet was working before this unannounced visit, and our router is a newer Arris Surfboard purchased last year.
This has been a frustrating and unacceptable experience. Cox needs better accountability for field visits, better communication between local offices and phone support, and a clear process for customers when an unannounced company vehicle shows up at their home.

If I could, I would give five stars to Blaine and Z, because their people skills, coupled with their Desire to help, are outstanding. However, the general manager at the store came across as arrogant and uninterested in a situation where Cox has taken advantage of an patient in a nursing home and overcharged her more than $2500. So Cox as a company won’t do anything about it. And this general manager Had their dispute policy on a loop and then walked away.

Avoid at all costs. After being talked into helping them transfer our service to the new tenant rather than cancel, they said we still had to turn in the old hardware! Why! What's the point of transferring?! Now we had to get the new tenant to wrap up the hardware and place it on the porch. Well after scheduling the pick up appointment we find out there isn't a pick up service for hardware. Well then why did you send us the link!!! We don't even live in Topeka anymore!!! We had a friend drop it off but I would avoid them at all costs. Worst customer service ever. Also, if they ask you to help them transfer the service to the new tenants save yoursself and the new person the headaches and get satellite.

Chose Cox because it was the only service in town. Service was OK for me but they make it insanely difficult and time consuming to cancel. It's like trying to cancel a gym membership mixed with scummy car dealership practices. They make you connect with costumer service to cancel, which is a nightmare. Then they ask for account authentication, including a pin that I never set up or was prompted to set up when I got the service. Turns out, they set up the pin for you and don't tell you, so they are authenticating your account with info they generate, which doesn't make sense. I think they do this to delay being able to authenticate you, so you have to get their app and change everything yourself. They are hoping you forget essentially. Otherwise, why not just have an option to cancel service when you log into the site?
