  As residents of the Lake Monticello Homeowners Association, this was our first time playing this course, and unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience. While the course itself was enjoyable, the staff communication and cart management were poor. Cameron at the front desk did not explain how the GPS system on the carts worked, which led to confusion. We were then accused of having too many players on a hole, despite trying to follow the rules and seeing other groups in similar situations. Mason approached us and asked us to leave without any prior warning, even though we had only completed 4 of 9 holes. When we requested a partial refund, it was refused, and our concerns were not addressed. We have played in groups larger than four at many other courses throughout Virginia without issue, but this experience ranks among the lowest due to how the situation was handled. Very disappointing overall experience for the first time and would not recommend for more than 2 people. Also we went to the Mexican restaurant here in plamyra afterwards and Cameron and a few other guys were there and they gave us the middle finger when we were leaving.

  Course was great. Beautiful even. But the experience with the staff may have been the worst ever, mostly just Mason. Mason would not let the family continue after locking our carts at the 5th hole(can’t play with a family of 5…. We will leave the third kid at home?). After we had called and had no explanation, no warnings, and when he arrived all he could say was that it’s a semi-professional golf course and threatened cops. So professional of him. Would never come back.

  Pro: Nice clubhouse and restaurant. Course layout is nice and scenic. Cons: Some of the greens have rough patches. The fairways, tee boxes and rough have bare patches. It’s not horrible but keeps it from being a really nice course.
