Fun climbs, many still lack grading.

The staff at the Troy location are amazing. I signed my daughter up for the Climbing Club and the staff has been so helpful and supportive. They have helped instill a love of climbing while also knowing when to push a little to help the kids challenge themselves and learn new skills. My daughter has tried a few sports, but this is by far the best experience she's had trying a new sport and the best experience with instructors. All of the instructors are great, but I have to give a special mention to Luke who is an amazing teacher. Some people are just natural born teachers and Luke is one of them. He's patient, encouraging, and really knows how to engage the kids.
It's also a great place for adults to climb as well! If you or your children are looking for a new hobby at a beautiful location with a welcoming, accepting staff, then look no further than Central Rock Gym in Troy!

Lovely Gym overall, 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking to rock climb. Amazing staff, great routes, chill/friendly environment, etc. I have been coming here for several months and will continue to go.
I would, however, like to give a special shout-out to Luke at Central Rock Gym. As a former teacher, I notice how teachers interact with students, student engagement during lessons, and peer-to-peer interactions between students. I’m impressed with Luke’s ability to engage with students, cultivate both their skill and enjoyment of climbing, and maintain a fun, safe environment. Anyone who teaches knows this isn’t easy, nor does it happen by accident; it comes from a teacher who cares about the students and is knowledgeable about the subject matter. I can say with confidence that Luke is a friendly, easygoing, patient, and effective teacher. Keep it up, man!

We took our 5th grade Student Council members here for an end of year field trip. I cannot begin to say enough good things about the Central Rock Gym and its staff. With 19 children even the best can get a bit overwhelmed. This was not the case as all. Every staff member was extremely attentive and patient with the kids. They let the kids climb at their pace and were so supportive to those who got a bit scared and wanted to come down instead of finishing a climb. When some of the kids wanted to try a harder climb they gave instructions and encouraged the kids until they reached the top. It didn't matter how long it took them either. One staff member calmly held those ropes and instructed a child through a climb for close to 15 minutes! I strongly recommend holding a birthday party for your child or taking your class on a field trip here. You will not be disaapointed. I wish I could add some photos of our happy kids. Believe me when I say they were talking about how much fun they had the whole bus ride back to school.
As grandparents of a 6½-year-old climber we want to express how grateful we are for CRG. It’s such a special place for kids to climb, whether with a class, a friend, or alongside their parents.
All of the coaches have been incredible teachers, mentors, and sources of encouragement for our granddaughter, who was completely new to climbing when she started. Watching her grow into a more confident climber — and a more confident person overall — has been a joy. She immediately gravitated to Coach Luke, whose patience, kindness, and constant encouragement have made a lasting impact on her experience. He always knows when to cheer her on and help her believe in herself.
What means the most to us is how CRG has helped shape her attitude toward trying new and challenging things. She now approaches unfamiliar experiences with much more confidence and resilience, and that is truly invaluable for any child. We are so thankful to CRG and highly recommend it to families looking for a positive, supportive environment for their kids. We’re delighted that our family has found CRG and made it part of their weekly routine!
