Fatphobic store, not inclusive at all.
Went there for the first time with my partner the other day for a bike helmet. First thing you see when you walk in is a sign talking up their diversity and inclusion. After getting the helmet we decided to look around at what else they have. Nothing in the store was my partner's size, and on top of that a woman stared at them the whole time I was looking at used shoes. Many of these used shoes are dirty and in terrible condition yet they still want $50+ for them, like new prices! When we came to the checkout, the cashier tells us we can't even buy the used shoes I picked out because they are for members only. I don't even want a membership for this store if they don't think fat people deserve high quality outdoor gear, so we left with just the helmet and won't be coming back. Do better.

This was my first time coming into an REI and probably my last as its just not a store that sells things I look for often. It was a store, I found what I was looking for easily and the checkout was easy to find. It was once I got to the register that solidified that if I ever needed anything that REI sells I would go somewhere else. If a customer tells your associate that they never come into the store and only came in for a thing they wouldn't need to buy again for a while, like a sunhat, don't badger them to get a membership after they have already said no. I have worked in retail and I never tried to tell a customer that getting membership would be beneficial even if they only came in once a year and continue to try to get them signed up when they already said they didn't come in enough for it to be worth it. Respect that the customer stated it's not worth it for them and move on. You just stop trying to sell it to them. Pressuring customers into getting a membership is predatory and disrespectful. I feel bad for the employees because I know they dont want to force it but I know what upper management can pressure on people when it comes to new membership quotas. I remember how that felt in my own experience. Do better REI.

Very cool store. Prices hardly marked up. Saw a lot of brands I'm looking for, not always the product I'm looking for. Some things can be Ordered (Grayl: *Titanium*), others will magically find the selves on the shelves the next time you visit after asking about it(Suunto: *MC-2*)! Looked like quite the bike shop, I'm already pretty covered there so I didn't check it out yet. Checked some things off my list. Became a member on the first visit, went back with a gift card the cost of the membership on my second visit.
