  Edit: replacing my grievances with five stars because the staff was SO nice and everyone was very helpful and the perfect balance of knowledgeable and willing to help but not being at all overwhelming. Previous: Ordered a jacket for store pickup on a Tuesday that I needed for a trip I was leaving for at the end of that week and the site said it would be ready for Thursday. Said Thursday comes and with no notice to my email, I check the order status to see "delayed" with no known arrival time. Like... if the arrival time is not possible then just maybe don't put it for then? Left me scrambling because I needed a winter jacket for this trip.

  Had everything you would need for a hiking or camping trip, staff were helpful and selection was great. Checkout line took a while though.

  We stopped by REI the day before our Africa safari trip and Dennis took care of us from start to finish. It was our first time preparing for a safari and he walked us through everything we needed to know, from what colors to wear to the best fabrics for the climate and even the right type of rain coverage. He made what could have felt overwhelming feel simple and clear. What really stood out was how thoughtful and genuine he was. He checked all the inventory for us, helped us in the fitting rooms, and walked back and forth between the women’s and men’s sections to make sure both my husband and I were fully set. He really put in the effort to help us find exactly what we needed. Thanks to Dennis, we feel confident and ready for our trip. So grateful for his help and would absolutely recommend asking for him if you visit.

  The go-to place for anything camping or outdoor related. When I needed a backpack, it was great to be able to try on different ones before I found one that worked. Plus the staff is super nice and helpful. It's great to walk into a store, see and try on stuff, and walk out with it same day while supporting the brick and mortar shopping experience. To me, when staff are nice that's a good sign about the company, and that's why i shop at REI.
