The mechanic, Phil went over & beyond to figure out & diagnose my townie 7d go electrical bike issue, and they were fair with the cost..

Great attentive service and guidance on our purchase as novice riders. Went in looking for an upgrade from our junk Walmart style bikes and left with a great product.

Had a problem with my Specialized e-bike while riding across New York on the Erie Canal Trail, and needed to go to a Specialized dealer to get the problem diagnosed. They took me right in, ran diagnostics on the bike, told me what was wrong and what I needed to do, and got me on my way - at no charge! And best of all, they fixed the problem without even knowing it - it was apparently just a loose connection on the TCU! Plus, I had a look around the store while I was waiting, and it is a very nice bike shop! I definitely recommend this shop.

We rented bikes to bike along the Erie Canal one afternoon. The rental process was easy and quick, the bikes were very nice Trek bikes and they gave us great directions. I look forward to renting with them again!

I need to share my experience with RV&E bike shop. Bought a brand new Trek for my 11 year old son. On his second time using the bike the front wheel nut fell off. He said the bike started feeling a bit wobbly and when he stopped to inspect he saw the nut was gone. He spent an hour looking for it and when he couldn't find it so he had to spend another 45 minutes walking his bike home. I brought it back to the shop and the owner Doug confirmed my suspicion that the nut for the front wheel is one of the few items that does not come factory installed on the bike. So it was installed and torqued by the shop. When I spoke to Doug about the situation I also shared my concern that with the nut slowly losening over time I was worried that it may have also caused subsequent damage to the disk brakes and rotors. After my explanation he basically told me there is zero chance they did anything wrong. Instead he blamed Trek for the new nuts type they use, said its not abnormal for these nuts to come loose over time and blamed my son for improper usage of the bike due to a scrape on the right handlebar and pedal. He also seemed skeptical when i said we had never removed the front tire. I want to emphasize this was my sons second time using this brand new bike and he does not have the know with all or tools to remove the wheel. And he does not ride it on hard terrain. He is riding wide open flat and rolling hill trails near our house. I had to be the one to tell Doug that at the minimum I expected them to replace the nut and give the bike a full safety check which to his credit he did agree to. I wasn't expecting Doug to fall over himself apologizing for this situation but the stance he took of 0% chance it was their fault and 100% guarentee it was some combination of our fault, Trek's fault for changing the nuts or just normal loosening on the bikes second use was disappointing. Then when I came back to pick up the bike Doug said they had to bend the rotor a bit because it was warped insinuating again it was our fault to which I reminded him that that was my concern with the nut falling off and a loose wheel.. it may have caused further damage to the rotors or wheels if the wheels were wobbly or loose for any period of time while the nut was slowly rotating off. He then also pointed to a small nick on the paint of the bike again insinuating it was our fault to which I replied that I get it you are doing everything you can to blame us please stop. It's disheartening, I prefer to buy local but based on this experience I will be purchasing and servicing our bikes elsewhere from now on. Edit: Added pictures of the "damage" Doug pointed to as evidence this was our fault.
