  So glad that there’s finally an REI in this part of the region. Handy to have when I’m traveling from West Coast to East Coat up to Vermont each summer. I now know I can get stuff shipped to this location. The staff are friendly, this used to be a Forever 21 store. The layout takes a little time to get oriented to, if you’re used to shopping at REI. Most of the REI stores I’ve been to usually have the cashiers on the left, and you navigate the store going right and around again. This store if you enter from the outside the cashier is on the right, though entering from the inside of the mall the cashier is on the left. This puts all the camping gear to the left of the store. The store has a decent resupply section for the size of the store, though it is a little odd that the Northface stuff is behind the resupply. I really hope REI sticks around in this region, it’s such a lifeline to have if you are a regular REI customer! There is a Costco that’s opening down the road as well!

  The employee was nice but the prices are not competitive compared to the 50 other stores around it that sell the same stuff for 25-30% less. Yeah, you can join their whole co-op member club thing for a certain amount of money but I didn't come in looking to join a club just to buy shoes. The shoes were $110 in the store and they were $60 on Amazon. I don't think this store is going to survive here long there is too much other competition that's wayyyyyy cheaper

  This place would not honor the 2year Solomon shoe warranty because (I went 100 miles over what REI Allows to return failed factory stitches and seems coming apart on my hiking Solomon sneakers)!! Extremely Disappointed!! Yet I spent another 500 dollars on Solomon hiking boots and sneakers to be told I am once again over the "mileage warranty of the shoe" Absolutely Ridiculous!!

  David at the bike counter made my day with excellent service and compassionate workmanship. He fixed my bike when I couldn’t and made me and my son’s day. 5 stars would recommend!

  REI at Crossgates is a wonderful store. I love that it is a cooperative and for those who might not realize the power of a cooperative, do some research. In addition to carrying major brands the REI brand is great in terms of quality and for those who think major brands are too expensive look for the REI brand. The staff at the store are helpful and knowledgeable. This is the only place we buy our outdoor and related clothing and equipment. Become a member at a very low cost and reap the benefits, check them out online. I am so happy that REI is here in our area.
