Cool place for camping gear you just got to get over a different employee trying to sell you a credit card and a membership for REI and then proceed to pushing it multiple times after you already said no.

I've been an REI member for years, and REI has always been one of my favorite stores. That's why my recent experiences at the Marlton location were so disappointing. The first issue was with a pair of shoes we bought for my daughter. After trying them on again at home, we realized they were a little too tight and wanted to exchange them. The employee looked at the bottom of the shoes and said they had been "used" and couldn't be returned. The problem is that my daughter only wore them inside the store while trying them out. The salesperson who helped us even encouraged her to walk around and use the display rocks to climb and test them. The soles had some slight discoloration from the store floor, but they weren't dirty and had never been worn outside. Even after we explained that, the exchange was refused. The second issue was with a used AeroPress Go Plus I bought through REI's Re/Supply program. I like the idea of keeping usable products out of landfills, so I was happy to support it. The label described it as a lightly used return. When I took it on a camping trip, I discovered that the plunger, the essential part that actually presses the coffee, was missing. Without it, the product is useless. There was nothing on the label saying any parts were missing. When I brought it back to the store, they refused the return (they don't take returns on used products). What bothered me even more was that an employee suggested I contact the manufacturer to request a replacement under warranty. Nothing was broken. The product was simply sold missing a critical component that wasn't disclosed. It felt like I was being asked to lie and make the manufacturer's problem out of something that should have been caught before the item was resold. The frustrating part is that REI promotes sustainability and keeping products out of landfills, but in this case, it felt like the goal of this store was to sell the item and move on, even if it's useless. If REI had properly disclosed that the AeroPress was missing essential parts, I never would have bought it. I still like REI as a company, but these experiences at the Marlton store were frustrating and left me disappointed with the customer service and how returns and used merchandise were handled.

Went in to look around and all 9 of the employees constantly harassed me to ask if I needed help. One asked after I had already told them I do not need assistance. We are all adults, we will ask you for help if we need it. If it's your companies protocol to be that obnoxious you are no different than a telemarketer and I will never come back to buy anything at your overpriced store

Watch the register! Snuck in a $30 membership fee for a quick trip I am giving this 2 stars instead of 1 only because the staff on the floor initially gave decent service. However, the checkout process was completely deceptive. I went in just to grab two accessories for my son's bike. My total should have been $62.91, but they snuck a $30 lifetime membership fee onto the bill, making it $92.91. Before I could even realize what happened, I tapped my card too quickly thinking I was just paying for my products. The employee then nonchalantly disclosed the price jump after the fact. Had this $30 fee been disclosed upfront before wasting my time, I would have flat-out refused. FAIR WARNING to anyone shopping here: the membership is NOT FREE, it costs $30. The store's prices are inflated, and even if they pitch that you "save 20% on services," the math doesn't clear—you still aren't saving money. I won't be returning frequently, so this was a total waste.

I've been to this location numerous times and have always had a great experience especially when browsing around. Someone always asks if I need help when they walk by. Recently, I went in specifically to get sizing for some hiking shoes and trail runners I've been eyeing. Diane was super helpful with sizing my feet and finding the right fit for me! We did settle on a shoe and she helped me get it ordered online. It was a great experience and I learned some new shoe tying tricks from her! Before I left, I was browsing the pack section because I will be going backpacking soon so I'm starting my search early. Christopher was there to help and he got be the right pack that felt secure on my back. I have a short torso and standing at 4'11 so it was a bit tricky but he found a good fit. Ultimately, I didn't buy the pack that day but I didn't feel pressured to do so that same day. It was an overall good experience and I felt like I could trust them with their opinions!
