My cousin and I played Hyatt Hills several times throughout the summer. We’ve always enjoyed the course, which is why yesterday’s experience was especially disappointing. Around the third hole, a woman in the group behind us began yelling for “Tony” and pointing in our direction. Tony, one of the rangers, immediately came over and began scolding us about our pace of play without even taking the time to speak to us respectfully. He proceeded to stay alongside us for the remainder of the hole, breathing down our necks on every shot. On the fifth hole, Tony returned with another ranger, who continued with the same attitude and made a condescending comment along the lines of, “It’s simple. Swing, find your ball, and swing again,” as if we didn’t understand how to play golf. I explained to them that we were simply keeping pace with the golfers in front of us and couldn’t reasonably speed up without riding their backs. Nothing was ever said to the group in front of us. The rest of the round felt rushed. We ended up skipping putts entirely to appease the rangers and group behind us. I’ve enjoyed Hyatt Hills and have recommended it before, but the way we were treated completely changed my opinion. I have no problem being asked to pick up the pace, but there is a respectful way to communicate that. After yesterday, we won’t be returning.

Nice 9-hole public course with a driving range and chipping area. Really enjoyed it! The only downside was the pace of play. It took over 3 hours to finish 9 holes.
