  The bikes and other equipment were in good shape with no issues. Our group had a snafu with planning coordination and the NBS team was incredibly understanding and accommodating. I look forward to renting bikes with NBS when I come back. Thank you, Nantucket Bike Shop—you saved my ACK vacation!

  Told us we could keep the scooter until the last ferry — then charged us for returning it late! We rented a scooter for a day trip to Nantucket. Before signing, I asked explicitly whether we could keep it until the last ferry back to New Bedford at around 7:30 pm. I was told this was no problem. At 7 pm we came back to a locked shop. The note on the door explained where to leave bicycles but said nothing about scooters. There was a missed call and a voicemail saying we had failed to return the scooter on time. Only then did I find the 5 pm deadline in the fine print of the contract. So we left a rented scooter on a public street and dropped the key through the mail slot, with no idea who would pick it up or who would be liable if anything happened to it. I called several times. Nobody answered. The next day the manager told me the contract says 5 pm, that I was in the wrong, and that he would charge 25 USD. The 25 dollars aren’t the point. The point is being told one thing at the counter, finding something else in the contract, and then being left alone on the street with a vehicle we were responsible for. There are several other rental shops on the same street. Use one of those.

  Joe and Meredith were so kind and helpful when we wanted to rent a couple bikes for the week. By far our favorite place to rent e-bikes on the island. The whole staff is very knowledgeable and the bikes themselves are so cute for pictures on the island. - Abbe + JJ

  1 star because my family had fun but the people giving the tutorials for the mopeds are EXTREMELY rude and condescending! The initial instructions are provided only 1x very quickly- you can barely hear them bc they are on a loud busy street by the ferry, then they get annoyed if you dont have it all. He barked at my 26 year old son because he didn't remember all the steps then denied him a moped.The location for a place that tests ones ability to ride the moped is ridiculous. Their shop should be AWAY from the downtown so people can safely do a test run. Your 1st and only opportunity to test ride they throw you into traffic on one of the busiest sections of town where you are constantly stopping and starting due to bottle necked traffic. He was also ready to deny my husband who has ridden several times. Noone can ride in their dangerous location! They are meant to be used around the island which is mostly rural. Then they tell you to avoid the cobblestones, well that is only done if you move your shop out of downtown. It's ridiculous!
