  I wanted to buy a $30 item. The register clerk tried to sell me a $30 membership. She said she would give me a $30 gift card for the membership, and I can use it for my item. I explained I rarely go to REI so didn't want the membership. We went back and forth. Finally she let me buy the item. Managers: Listen to customers. If we don't want a membership, drop the hard sale.

  Zero stars. Overheard employees bad mouthing the manager and making fun of him. Found out for myself what an incompetent human robot he was when I needed help with a return later. He wouldn’t except a return after 6 months. Said there was too much wear but in the same breath said I have a year satisfaction guarantee. Said it was based off vibes no real guidelines or charts that describe wear. These were $200 shoes mind you. So after 6 months they’re falling apart and he said it wasn’t from normal wear and tear. I literally have never used them for running only walking around and they’re junk. No remorse, even after I explained I had been a customer for 25 years and was there when they opened the store. It won’t be long before you guys go under treating loyal customers like trash.

  Been looking forward to going here for awhile now. They are remodeling so inventory may be limited but WOW, were they helpful and friendly! Went looking for hiking boots. Didn't have the size of the ones I wanted but the young man suggested a different brand and "sold it". Had my size and they fit like a glove. Would not have even thought of them. In and out in less than 30 minutes with better boots than I was considering.
