  I’ve been an REI member since 2010, but my recent experience at the Framingham location was a massive waste of time and gas. I spent $1,000 on two bikes for my kids, but it took three separate trips and three hours of driving to actually get them home. I arrived at 10 AM to purchase the bikes. Despite being a bike mechanic myself and offering to sign a waiver, I was told I couldn't take them until a store mechanic arrived at noon. I returned at 2:30 PM (well after the promised time), and they still weren't ready. I had to come back a third time at 5 PM. To top it off, the 15% Co-op member discount for accessories was only applied to one of the two kickstands I bought, which contradicts the policy for bicycle purchases. I expect better coordination and respect for a customer’s time, especially for a "pro-grade" shop. If you’re buying a bike here, double-check their mechanic's schedule and your receipt before you make the drive. Update 4 days later: I reached out to the store and corporate to discuss the experience and discrepancies and no one had returned my messages.

  Compared to many other REIs I’ve been to this store seriously needs to revisit their customer service training. Every single time I’m here there is one person at the register and at least 5-6 people in line as other employees roam through the store not helping other customers. It’s as if they avoid helping customers. Get your priorities straight. Same thing happens at the ski counter. You will just wait there till someone shows up which can take 20 mins as employees roam on the floor not acknowledging the customer nor calling someone to the counter. This is not a one off. This happens every time I visits. I’ve been to at least 3 more REIs in the area and it’s completely different experience.

  AI was right! When I broke the chain to my Trek dual sport riding up a hill training today for a Marathon midnight ride I was clueless as to where was the best place to get it repaired. AI suggested REI Framingham which just happens to be the closest bike shop to me. I was in and out in less than 20 minutes. Frank was perfect in every way. He gave me even a few maintenance and riding tips and I love REI’s checklist and local bike groups. As a 71 year old veteran I have seen a lot of bikes shops and mechanics. Hands down REI Framingham is the best bike shop and service I have ever used.
