If you're trying to escape the city without actually leaving, look no further. Secluded deep in the woods of Rock Creek Park, there are no signs of city life as mature trees block out the city noise and buildings. Services include a free practice green, pre-packaged snacks & drinks, and the Golf Academy. Come to Rock Creek's beautiful 9-hole setting or 5-hole loop and be one with nature for awhile.
First time playing here with my buddies, we did not know what we were getting in to. Clubhouse and bathrooms are very run down, and while push carts were free, the majority of them were broken.
I could have looked past all that but the state of the course itself is just abysmal. Fairways looked like they hadn't been mowed in weeks, greens were in terrible shape with clearly no maintenance. No tee markers and lack of mowing left us just guessing where the tee boxes were. The whole place gives off the vibe of just being an abandoned course.
Unlike some of these other reviews, I had no problem with the employees. Guys in the clubhouse were cool and got us checked in and our on way no problem.
While it is incredibly cheap to golf here, it is still not worth it. Save yourself the trouble and head over to Potomac Links if you want a cheap round in DC.

I just returned from my first and last time on this golf course, and I am trying to write a factual review. Bottom line is that D.C. does not properly fund this course. The club house is a rundown old building. Pull carts are free, but half were broken. There were no tee box markers, so you just had to pick a spot. In fact, there were no signs on any hole. The fairways had more weeds than grass, and the grass was all overgrown. The greens are all ruined with weeds that make it impossible to read the green and make long putts. I wondered why anybody was there, then I realized all of the locals were just walking on and NOT paying. I read reviews before I went, so I was somewhat prepared, but it was even worse than I expected. There is a plan to do a "major" renovation to the course during the next 1-2 years, so maybe one day it will be nice. The one positive, was that the lady that checked me in was pleasant, but I think she was the only one working on the entire course. If you went here and had a good time, great! However, I would encourage you to try other courses, because I think you will have an even better experience.

Nice place to Player. The cheaters have been kicked out of the tournament; that is the just punishment for the Americans.

So, although it says it's closed, it is indeed open. I have to say it's very sad to go to this course, which used to be a perfectly fine muni back in the day, and see it in the state that it's in. The revamp has been halted due to politics, but even so, the conditions are very bad all around and even the simple things like removing debris and garbage and even weird mystery chemical barrels from the parking lot are not done. The walking paths are actually dangerous, they are so eroded and broken up. Someone is going to get hurt just walking around. The clubhouse is totally empty and the bathrooms are in a state of disrepair. The fairways are nothing but clumps of patchy grass, although the greens, while really slow, were better than expected. Still, there are actual divots on multiple greens where idiots purposefully destroyed the course. Old, broken hand carts litter the fairways. The people of DC deserve a lot better than this.
