This review is specifically for the awesome staff at this location. I had purchased a pair of low hikers at an REI store in NYC, and for New Balance, these things were deceptively wobbly. They were like wearing an ultra-cushioned pair of high heels when I tried them outside the first time, and my ankle kept threatening to roll. This has never happened before, so I was disappointed and flummoxed at what to do. Fortunately, the folks at REI said I had a year to return the shoes, even if I didn't have the box. I drove 45 minutes down to the nearest store, and even though I was skeptical, they did take the shoes back without any grief and I received a full refund. At that point, I was grateful that all of the different people I communicated with were clearly on the same page, and it was such a relief not to be stuck with a pair of shoes that I could not wear. The next step would be trying to replace them with a pair of shoes I could wear. I have a wide toebox, narrow heel, prefer a Vibram sole for my wet rock skipping, don't like crappy colors, and whatever that weird foot positioning that HOKA uses that threatens to pummel you straight downhill with the heel lift. Well, the woman in the shoe department knew everything about every shoe they carried. She knew how to compare different shoes based off of the ones that I liked. I have never had a shoe fitting experience like that since I was 10 years old getting fit for my first pair of orthotics at Stride Rite downtown. Just an amazing experience. Anything that I saw that could possibly come in a different color, she let me know that REI had some alternatives on their website that could be ordered in my size and sent to my house for no additional charge. Because of the distance, I did get there a half hour before they closed, and they were still willing to make sure I was satisfied before I left the store (on time!). Thanks again to all of the staff at this location. I think my shoes arrived two days later that had to be ordered, and I couldn't be any happier.

Completely unhelpful. Will not be coming back to REI after this interaction.

It was my first time in this store, I was planning to purchase a bicycle with a lock and I end up checking on the customer bikes by mistake. I totally missed seeing the customer bike sign they had there. The guy at the bike service desk yelled at me in front of other customer saying not to touch the bikes because it belongs to other customers intead of going toward me proffesionally and asking me if I needed help. I apologized to the guy and I just walked away.

I showed up to buy a few replacement buckles because it was the closest store that had them. I saw the line was massive, but there was six people working the registers so I figured it would go quick I Got to the line and it was still massive and I waited for probably 10 minutes. When I get to the front, my total is 18 and some change and I pull out a $20 bill. They asked me if I was in the co-op. I said no I’m good thank you they asked if I had heard about it. I said no, but I’m really ok. I only came for the buckles and do not shop here. The person at the front still proceeds to spend probably three minutes explaining the co-op, At which point I say I’m good for the third time and hand my $20 bill. Now I know why the line takes so long….
