Return policy is no longer
in effect I guess.
Tried to returned shoes after using them after a month since they already split up, they would not respect the return saying it’s wear and tear. After one month using $220 shoe. Never buy again from them

Giving it two stars instead of one just because there was a lot of everything you would be looking for. Came in to make a shoe purchase and stood around forever. One gentleman working there told me he couldn’t help because he was going on break and said he’d go in the back and grab someone, which he didn’t. Bummer.

I absolutely love this REI. I think all REI stores are reliably good, but the people who work in the Boulder store seem to be there out of complete passion for the outdoors and helping people from all backgrounds be ready for adventures - simple to extreme. I’m not an athlete, nor even a regular hiker… but any time I need their help finding the right balance between cost and performance these people are kind and generous with their time. I’ve been shopping here for years.

Stood in the shoe department for nearly 15 minutes and was ignored. Awful customer service. Clerks were all over and continuously helped other customers while ignoring us. Didn’t get a chance to even ask for help before they went to the back to retrieve a new size for an already talked to customer.

I had a very poor experience with the bike shop at this REI location that still stands out to me.
I brought in my Trek Marlin 5 for service, and the technician refused to work on it because he claimed the frame was cracked and unsafe. He was very forceful about it over the phone and made it sound like the bike was essentially beyond repair. I picked the bike back up with no work performed.
Because the claim seemed extreme, I took the bike directly to a Trek store afterward. Their staff inspected the same area and said they had no idea what REI was talking about. They did not identify the supposed frame crack. Since then, the bike has been looked at again elsewhere, including another REI location, and this alleged issue has never been raised again.
I understand a shop being cautious about safety, but this felt like an overreaction and a misdiagnosis handled with unnecessary certainty. Refusing service based on a frame issue that the actual manufacturer’s shop could not validate was frustrating and wasted my time. It made me lose confidence in this location’s bike service department.
