  The man that I think runs the cabins was extremely understanding and helpful when some of my plans changed. I drive through this area from Colorado to NM to visit my sister and I plan to stay here every trip moving forward. Great location, kind people.

  Morning of, we received a text/email with checkin instructions. Like another reviewer stated, the link to the map didn't work (just got a 404 error code), but thankfully, the hosts were responsive and quick to help. The park layout is a bit odd, in a way that you have to fully enter and drive towards the back before making a 180 to come back to the sites at the front. We were able to rent boards and staff/hosts were excellent and communicative. Our site was SUPER spacious with plenty of room to park extra vehicles or trailers. We planned to stay several nights, but got done with Great Sand Dunes after about 3-4 hours. So we cut our stay short by a couple days and moved on to our next destination. We'd certainly stay here again if we ever visit Great Sand Dunes NP again, or Alamosa, CO!

  Great location for touring the Great Sand Dunes. Park was well kept and well thought out and looks like they are doing an amazing job as they expand. 10/10 recommend!

  A very nice campground with large, level sites. We had a pull through with full hookups. The bathhouse and laundry were kept clean and well maintained. You can tell that the owners are working to make sure that this will be a nice campground for years to come. Owners should consider adding an additional bathhouse in the future. The one bathhouse was very busy at certain times of the day. Campground is conveniently located near Great Sand Dunes National Park and the town of Alamosa, surrounded by a beautiful mountain landscape.

  I stumbled upon the Base Camp campground by accident but as the great Bob Ross would say, it was a happy little accident. An impromptu motorcycle trip landed me in this neck of the “woods” well after dark. I assumed I could just find a quiet little corner of the desert to stop and through down a sleeping bag real quick, but as it turns out, the ground was a little too pokey for my liking. The Base Camp campground turned out to be much better. This is a great campground. Clean, quiet and comfortable in a convenient location. I’ll be back.
