This is hands down the best RV park in the valley. The owners are super nice, hard working, and personable. The grounds are always clean, and there is a lot of hard work put into keeping the place nice and expanding. The sunsets are beautiful and the view of Mount Blanca is immaculate. There are plenty of recreational opportunities nearby (including sand board rentals offered by Base Camp) yet it is close enough to town to run in grab a bite to eat. We have stayed long term, and could not be happier with our stay. You have everything you need (laundry, bathroom/shower, vending, and a walking trail). The oweners are easy to have an honest conversation with, and have helped us immensely. From getting us in last minute, helping us fill out some DMV paper work, and even extending our stay when closing on our home got pushed back. We have been treated like family here(dogs included) and the experience we have had at Base Camp has helped us know we are becoming a part of genuine community. Because the people that run the place are just that. Genuinely good people.

One of the best campgrounds we have stayed in! The sites are truly 100' x 40'. We did not use any facilities but the park seems to be well taken care of. We did see camp hosts out and about. It was peaceful. It was close to the Sand Dunes. We enjoyed our stay! Even saw a double rainbow ene to end!!! 🥰

We have a 44ft 5th wheel and have been to rv parks all over the country and this is the most spacious and easy to navigate. The owners are so kind and go above and beyond to accommodate you. My husband got sick and couldn't move the rv but someone was coming into our spot and they offered to help us move the rv to something available. Please support this amazing family business over big name corporate parks.

We booked a cabin and it was an amazing experience, the showers were clean and the service was amazing and super quick. You can really feel the genuine hospitality- we rented sand boards and got many tips for how to plan our trip. The Milky Way is also very visible at night and was awesome cooking food while looking up at the stars.

We had a great stay at Base Camp Family Campground. The campground is very well maintained, and the location is perfect for exploring Great Sand Dunes National Park. It made a great home base for our family adventure. One of our biggest recommendations is to rent sleds directly from the campground before heading to the dunes. It made the experience so much easier and was a highlight for the whole family. There are also plenty of other nearby attractions to explore. Zapata Falls is just a short drive away and well worth the visit, and the UFO Watchtower was a fun stop that our family really enjoyed. The campground is also an amazing dark sky location. If you enjoy stargazing, this is a fantastic place to sit outside at night and take in the stars. My only suggestion would be for the owners to consider turning off or dimming the front entrance lights after dark. While the lighting is helpful for arrivals, reducing it overnight would make an already incredible dark sky location even better. Overall, Base Camp Family Campground was a fantastic place to stay, with a great location, friendly atmosphere, and easy access to one of Colorado's most unique national parks. We would definitely stay here again.
