I simply don’t understand the complete lack of customer service. It boggles the mind.

I bought a workout dress from this Alo this week. When I got home I realized there was what looked like deodorant stains on it, so I decided to return it. When I went back, the sales associate said they could not accept it. Then the manager, named Tina, came over and said the same. She said there was “cat dander” on it and it was in “unsellable condition.” Mind you I do not have a cat. I told her more than 5 times I do not have any pets. She kept repeating that because my cat had been on it, and the cat’s dander was on the dress, they couldn’t take it back. Tina was nasty and demeaning. This was after being assaulted by the overwhelming girl at the front who screamed in my face “WELCOME TO ALO!” And proceeded to follow me around asking what I wanted. I will never be shopping at Alo again. This has never happened to me at Lulu or Vuori.

I don’t usually write reviews for retail stores, but this experience was so bizarre that I felt compelled to write one. I was genuinely excited to stop into Alo after browsing at Lululemon across the way. I mostly live in Switzerland, so it’s always fun coming back to the US and seeing what’s new in the stores of brands I love. Unfortunately, from the moment I walked in, I was stressed by the hectic energy of the sales associates. Before I’d even had a chance to step into the store and look around, I was being asked EXACTLY what I wanted, and when I said, “I’ll know it when I see it,” that apparently wasn’t an acceptable answer. The sales associate immediately started sprinting around the store pulling items, despite my repeatedly hints that I just wanted to browse. Then came the fitting room. I had barely tried on two things before she was already asking collect the rejects. Sometimes it takes a minute to look in the mirror and decide if you want to spend $200 on a light jacket…? My friend texted me while I was in the fitting room also noting how frantic the sales associates were. The staff’s energy was at about a 12, while every customer in the store seemed to be operating at a perfectly normal 3. There’s a huge difference between being attentive and making customers feel like they can’t spend thirty seconds alone with an item of clothing. If this is Alo’s sales strategy, I’d strongly encourage a rethink. Needless to say, I walked back across the hallway and bought my jacket at Lululemon instead.
