  I had one of the most disappointing customer service experiences I have ever had at Nordstrom Rack in Manhasset. On June 17, I found a dress that I loved, but it had no price tag. An employee took it to look up the price, and I thanked her and told her I would wait nearby. After waiting about 20 minutes with no update, I found her myself. She simply told me that no price had been found and that the dress could not be sold because there was no manager available. She suggested that I return the next day and assured me she would leave a note for the manager so the dress could be priced. I came back the following day June 18th . A different employee located the dress and spent time trying to price it. After another long wait, I was informed that the dress was missing one of its original pieces ( it was a 2 piece dress originally) and had also been damaged, with one shoulder strap ripped. I explained that I still wanted it and was happy to repair it myself. The employee contacted the manager and eventually returned with a newly printed barcode and price tag for $306, telling me that the manager had approved it and that it was the final price. Out of curiosity, I looked up the exact same dress online and found it available from numerous legitimate retailers and resale platforms for around $250, complete and undamaged. I politely asked why a damaged and incomplete dress was being priced significantly higher than the same dress in perfect condition elsewhere. The employee assured me that she had already discussed it with the manager and that the manager had personally approved the price. When I went downstairs to speak with the manager myself, the situation became even more confusing. After calmly explaining everything, she immediately stated that the dress was "not for sale." When I pointed out that a brand-new barcode and price tag had just been created specifically so that I could purchase it, she repeatedly denied any knowledge of the situation, insisting that nobody had spoken to her and that she knew nothing about it. This directly contradicted what multiple employees upstairs had told me only minutes earlier. The entire interaction left me feeling as though responsibility was being avoided rather than acknowledged. Instead of receiving an explanation or even a simple apology for the confusion and the time I had wasted over two separate visits, I was met with dismissive responses and complete denial. It genuinely felt like I was being treated as if I were an idiot, and I found that both disrespectful and insulting. From my perspective, it also appeared that the price tag had been created only after it was clear that I really wanted the dress, and the amount assigned to it was inexplicably higher than the market price for the same item in new condition with all its pieces included. When I questioned it, the situation suddenly changed to "it's not for sale," despite the fact that I had been handed the newly printed price tag and told to take it downstairs to purchase it. Had the store simply told me from the beginning that the dress should not have been on the sales floor because it was incomplete or not intended for sale, I would have completely understood. Instead, I made two trips to the store, spent well over an hour waiting for assistance, was repeatedly led to believe the dress could be purchased, and ultimately received conflicting explanations with no accountability and no apology. I expect far better professionalism, honesty, and respect for customers from Nordstrom Rack.
