As a Bass Pro Shops Club Member, I have visited everything from massive Outdoor Worlds and flagship stores to smaller Outposts and Sportsman Centers, and the Auburn, New York location does a great job filling an important niche for outdoorsmen in the Finger Lakes region. Unlike the giant destination-style Bass Pro stores built around tourism and spectacle, the Auburn Sportsman Center feels more practical, local, and focused on the everyday outdoorsman. It has more of the atmosphere of a traditional Upstate New York outfitter than a massive retail attraction, and honestly that works well for the area. The store may be smaller than places like Springfield or the Pyramid, but it still packs in a solid selection of hunting, fishing, camping, boating, and outdoor gear. The fishing department especially felt well tailored to Central New York and the Finger Lakes region, whether you are fishing Cayuga, Owasco, Oneida, the Salmon River, or heading north toward the Adirondacks. One thing I appreciated was how easy the store was to navigate. You can get in, find what you need, and still spend time browsing without feeling overwhelmed by the scale of some of the larger Bass Pro destinations. It feels built for people who actually spend weekends outdoors rather than just tourists stopping in to see giant aquariums and waterfalls. The hunting and outdoor apparel departments were also well stocked, and the entire store felt clean, organized, and staffed by people who actually understood the products they were selling. That matters in a Sportsman Center because customers are often there for practical advice and gear recommendations rather than just the experience. What I liked most is that the Auburn location feels connected to the outdoor culture of Upstate New York. It reflects the region well part Finger Lakes fishing hub, part hunting outfitter, part practical stop before heading into the woods or out onto the water. I have visited a number of Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s locations over the years, including various Outdoor Worlds, Outposts, and flagship stores, and while Auburn obviously operates on a smaller scale, it succeeds by staying focused on what local outdoorsmen actually need. Definitely a solid Sportsman Center and a great resource for outdoorsmen in Central New York.

Be leary about storing boat at Bass Pro for winter . Just picked up my Pontoon I bought April of last year from being stored for the winter there, they offered to store and detail it because they never did the intial detaill when I bought it and its been a miserable buying experience and it has damage on the rear corner of it , not even sure what would have done this , looks like somthing hit it alot possibly scraped across it or somthing, brand new boat one season on the water and most certainly did not have this damage on it when I dropped it off smh its just cosmetics so at least they didn't damage anything critical and also never detailed it despite saying they would do so , the staff is really nice but BP has just been full of empty promises, just be cautious when spending a large amount of money or storing anything with them
