I normally do not leave negative reviews, but ongoing sanitation issues at Compass at City Center have become difficult to ignore. Since the transition to Kettler Property Management, dog waste has repeatedly been left in shared stairwells for extended periods, often close to a week, before being addressed. When it is removed, the area is not properly sanitized, leaving behind residue and odor. This has occurred multiple times and has resulted in visibly noticeable unsanitary conditions, including waste being tracked through carpeting and stairwells. Previously under D&F Property Management, these areas were cleaned promptly and regularly sanitized, so the current level of maintenance is a noticeable decline. Despite multiple attempts to report the issue through maintenance requests and direct communication with the leasing office, including conversations with assistant property manager Karissa and requests to speak with property manager Jasmine, the response and follow-through have been inadequate. While I understand management cannot fully prevent pet-related issues, residents should be able to expect timely cleanup and proper sanitization of shared spaces. The current conditions fall short of what is advertised as “luxury living,” and I hope this is addressed with improved enforcement and maintenance going forward.

I just had the Best Tour with Alexis!!!! The Lobby is beautiful and so is her personality. I’m excited to apply here for my new home due to relocating. The grounds of the property is well kept. They even have a spa like place for your pets 😃😃. How cute. Lastly I definitely felt safe and appreciated the quietness of this community.

I was referred by my coworker who lives here, and I’m so glad I chose Compass as my new home. I had a great move-in experience with Caressa, she made everything easy to understand from the initial tour through the application process. She was friendly and patient, especially with the language barrier, and made me feel comfortable asking questions. I’m so excited to live here!

Under previous management I would have given this complex and the representatives 5 stars. They have since been bought by a multistate corperation with no interest or reason to show interest in its residents. I do not recommend coming to this complex unless it is for 6 months or less. Edit in response to the team: No. But if I were to reach out I would let anyone know the nonsense pulled upon moveout. Where the office workers were unable to compress a file and thus send it to me thru email in order to see why they removed money from my security deposit. They had me drive down from my base around Chicago to come and meet then in person as they also refused to do this conversation over the phone. Then, once in the office they presented with quite rudely even though I had taken time out of my busy schedule to meet with them coordially. They proceeded to show pictures of the apartment in photos on their sharepoint. These photos were not able to show the "damages to carpet and oven" they claimed. There were no damages to the carpets, in my single person non smpking no pets or animals apartment. The damages to the stove were in fact hard to remove scum from regular usuage. But not impossible to remove by any means, nor what most refer to as damage. They then proceeded to say that the charges were for damage to the walls. Where the paint had gotten darkened marks from me merely hanging up Xmas lights. I have no idea what cheap paint they bought, but it also discolored from any picture merely hanging on the wall(with command strips so there were no holes). They then said it smelled atrocious in my well kept, often complimented, womens oasis of an apartment. When I tell you I cleaned daily, and washed down to the baseboards monthly, that is what I mean by well kept. It was interesting then, that the one thing they fell back on as damages that needed repair was the single unquantifiable quality of odor...But this multi-state multi-million dollar company that has bought this apartment complex has continued to cut corners in order to expand. They fired all of the previous kind staff, stripped the number of office workers down to bare minimum, and contract out maintinence workers who do not work in our complex alone. This is the source of their problems. At the end of the day I do not fault the workers for being stretched out, angry, and disgruntled. It's a bad work enviornment. But they are the face of the company at this location, and they are the ones with the final say for monetary reimbursement at this complex. As I said, I would have given them 5 stars under previous management. Truly. But I took it down to 3/5 stars because it was my last experience with them. However, given the disingenuos nature of their response here in the comments. As though it is not an underpaid intern covering for this multi million dollar housing coorperation, that is pushing the cost of wear and tear of a 40 YEAR OLD apartment complex onto anyone moving out? I will be reducing my review to 1 star. Because these are the people you will be dealing with in order to move in or out. And this slimy group of investors raising rent costs for apartments that have merely been painted over are trying to make YOU pay for the fact that THEY bought a complex with people in it. (As a sidenote they are required by law to repaint the walls when any person moves out. They simply are attempting to push the burden of that upkeep onto you. The person who paid ~$1700-$2000 to live there in the first place. That's what rent money is for you disgusting selfish gentrifiers.) Hope this helps anyone make their decision in conjunction with the other reviews.

Update #2: We have finally got a new dryer! I got a call from Jasmine who let me know that my email must've been missed. She was in FL at the time she called, and let me know she'd be back the next day to figure everything out. Next day came around and our dryer was gone by the time I got home. Another day later, we have a new dryer!! I would have updated it to 5 stars if communication through the whole process were a little better, but I do understand with change in management, and most of the maintenance team, that things take a few to get back on track. Thank you Eric, Jasmine, and anyone else involved for getting this situation handled. Though I was frustrated at times when speaking with them, they still had patience and professionality throughout it all. Update: It's now been almost 2 weeks since I emailed them with the one provided in their reply, and still no response. Our dryer has been broken for 3 weeks now, and we keep getting the runaround on when it'll be fixed/replaced. Before management changed, being here was great! The team then was communicative, and I would get calls from maintenance themselves letting me know when they'll be coming. Ever since management has been under Kettler, I can't say the same about this place anymore. Maintenance marked the work order for our dryer as completed, though nothing was fixed. We’ve followed up several times regarding our maintenance requests and have been told that the office doesn’t currently have an update, and that maintenance would return on a later day. However, when that day comes, maintenance has not been on site, and we’ve been advised to check back again the following week. We check back, then we're told we'll be contacted another day, and haven't been contacted once in the whole process. We've witnessed them (maintenance I'm assuming) replacing a fridge in a unit that someone moved out of not too long ago, but they have no answer on when our dryer can be replaced? Residents spend way too much here for there to be poor communication, and just overall poor upkeep of the place since the owner change. It's an added expense having to do our laundry somewhere else, especially considering "In-Unit Laundry" is advertised multiple times regarding these apartments. There's no email listed anywhere on their website either, and they will NOT get back to you when you use their "Contact Us" forum on their website. So that's pointless! I really enjoyed these apartments and we were looking forward to being able to renew, but now we aren't sure considering the price you pay for what you really get.
