On a scale of 1–10, I would give The Tribute a solid 3. From my 2 years here, it was on a constant decline.
The people they allow into the community range from drug dealers to domestic violence offenders—you name it. I truly felt like I was living in Section 8 housing based on the residents, despite a few normal friends I made.
The building itself was filthy: bugs (cockroaches go crazy here), trash, dog poop (inside and out), and stained carpets with who knows what on them. Things were constantly breaking—doors, concrete, random light fixtures falling from the ceiling in the halls.
Police were always on the property dealing with the criminals they allow to live here. There were abandoned cars, units padlocked by the Wake County sheriff, and constant orange police notices hanging on apartment doors. Don’t worry though—the police will ask bystanders to let them into the building because they can’t get in themselves. I think my favorite memory here was the shooting in the parking garage & another time when my dog found a bullet.
Amenities and security were also a mess. The grills were always broken and disgusting, and the gate to the parking deck was always broken, letting anyone enter. Multiple building entrances were not secure despite supposedly needing a key fob. I once watched a man wearing a ski mask walk into the building in broad daylight in the middle of summer ❤️
Residents frequently left trash bins in the hallways, making them smell horrible, despite property staff threatening fines. The same goes for people not picking up after their dogs—clearly those fines were never enforced. The amount of dog poop in the dog park was always unbelievable, even though there were bags and a disposal bin available. Again, this comes down to the type of people they allow here who don’t respect living in a shared community.
I do NOT recommend this building to anyone. I’m honestly not sure how it has such high ratings.
The maintenance team was always great, though. And to be fair, it’s not entirely the property staff’s fault—their management company (Waterton) doesn’t seem to give them the resources needed to make the place better.

Elsa was an amazing tour guide, we fell in love with everything we saw so we applied almost immediately. Elsa helped us through every step of the process, was available by email any time we had an issue, and has been a welcoming friendly face at the entrance while coming in and out of the building. It was a lovely experience, both seeing the building and amenities, as well as with the management. Monica is the other desk agent who is equally as wonderful, she’s been incredibly helpful and offered her help to us anytime we’ve needed it. It’s a perfect little community.
I’ve really been enjoying living at the Tribute. I just renewed my lease which will make it 2 years since I’ve moved in. The staff and maintenance have been great! Especially Elsa, such a sweetheart and very helpful when it comes to anything I need assistance with. Elsa and Angela made my transfer process so easy and smooth. Me and my fur baby have become regular visitors at the office. I’m always welcomed with warmth and kindness and a little treat for my fur baby!
