  I rented this apartment with so much excitement, but unfortunately my experience with Mikel Lindo was extremely disappointing and emotionally painful. After signing the lease, I was told I had 48 hours to inspect the apartment. I went about 24 hours later and found it in unacceptable condition. There was broken glass all over the floor, the front door lock was damaged, the microwave didn't work, the garbage disposal wasn't working, and the apartment had not been cleaned properly. What disappointed me the most was not the maintenance issues, but the way I was treated when I reported them. Mikel told me the apartment was no longer her responsibility, that her workday was over, and that I would have to wait until Monday for any assistance. She repeated several times that it was no longer her responsibility, showing no empathy for the situation. To make matters worse, no one ever informed me that the apartment I would receive was different from the one that had been shown to me. Had I known that, I would have inspected it before signing the lease. I arrived with all my belongings, ready to move into what I hoped would be my new home, only to find broken glass everywhere and a front door that could not be secured properly. At that moment, I felt completely alone and unsupported. It was such an overwhelming experience that it brought me to tears. I understand that maintenance issues can happen in any apartment community. What should never happen is making a new resident feel abandoned on move-in day. People in customer service should remember that behind every lease is a family, hard work, sacrifice, and the hope of starting a new chapter in a safe place. I sincerely hope management takes this review as an opportunity to improve not only the condition of their apartments, but also the empathy and customer service they provide to future residents.

  There are motor cycles that rev their engines and race in the parking lot. I have literally shown videos to management...nothing gets done about it... it's like a biker rally every stinking night.... Also you pay a pest fee but for what... My place constantly has bugs.. I literally even had A MOUSE in my apartment... There is one garbage dumpster for the entire apartment community. Their solution...put up cameras so they can fine people who need to get rid of their trash instead of adding another garbage bin or putting trash cans for us to use. The other thing is parking keeps getting worse and worse....they keep putting up reserve spots that are like $75 a month. You will just drive around in circles at night looking for a place to park. Their thought process...make it so there is no parking so people will have to buy a reserve spot so they can make more money. NOW for the PROS: Nicest thing about this place is the location and the pool. The pool literally cannot be beat as it's open year round. They do have a lot of events so that is nice like every 2 or 3 weeks something is going on. It's right next to the park so it's great to walk to.

  Over all, not bad of experience for the first time as renting an apartments from Elwood. Its pretty nice. Although we did have trouble in one of our rooms, its smelled like cigarettes in the bathroom and closet. (keep in mind its a smoke free apartments, thats what they call it..) Before moving in they told us that carpet was put new and painted walls but they couldn’t smell how bad it was!? all they told us “have the air coming in from the windows and let it be ventilated” dude… (I aint dumb knowing that the walls became saturated from the smell…) 1st of all; if your letting people move in then at least inspect it before having people move in(and i mean the smell too!), 2nd i went to the front office told them all of that and the only response i was given “what do you want us to do about? 🤷‍♀️” ummm… completely unprofessional and whenever the maintainens came i told them they can only come in with my presence cuz you never know what they can say whenever im not there, they came but said they couldnt do anything about it… still to this day we can’t use that room. I personally had to bring an ozone machine to get the smell out of the room , that did help but not the bathroom or closet… Until they start dealing with the problem ill be out of here either way but make sure to inspect the apartment before even choosing it!! :))) just a good tip to keep in mind
