While the apartments are comfortable and the location is great, the management and security are deeply concerning.
My locked storage unit was accessed with absolutely no signs of forced entry, and $522.23 worth of tools were stolen. This clearly demonstrates the severe lack of security and access control in these facilities. To make matters worse, this complex has NO security cameras in the common areas or storage buildings to monitor who comes and goes.
Management and ownership completely refuse to take responsibility for this massive security breach and negligence.
An official criminal investigation is open with the Durham Police Department under Report #26/017346.
It is a shame that such a nice community is ruined by poor security administration.
If you value your personal property, look elsewhere.
EDIT/RESPONSE
Prospective tenants beware: they will gladly take your renewal, but they will not secure your property.
Management's response below highlights their lack of accountability. They mention our lease renewal to minimize this incident, but let's be clear: we initiated our part of the renewal before this security breach occurred, in good faith, genuinely trusting this community and believing that management would always act with integrity and make things right.
That trust has now been completely broken. I trusted this community, only to have my locked storage unit targeted in a highly selective theft with zero signs of forced entry.
Furthermore, in corporate emails, regional management explicitly admitted to me that these storage units "do not have deadbolts and are not the most secure." If you know your amenities are structurally unsafe, you fix them—you don't blame a resident who trusted you.
Instead of taking responsibility, they are simply blaming me.
