  As a renter of an apartment I had a 12 month lease with them. On the first of my last month they canceled my autopayment. I got a notification and assumed that meant they had also collected my last rent payment. Apparently I still had one more payment to make but because of the auto payment cancellation I was also charged a late fee of 30$. Scummy business practice.

  Update to response: If you review paragraph 28(c) of our signed agreement, it explicitly states “Total rent for this rental period is $7,200.00 paid over 12 equal payments. Tenant is responsible for the entire amount before the end of the lease.” The rental period is bound by our contract dates, which are beginning: 4/17/25 ending: 7/15/26 It appears that you did not update the lease terms to reflect the extended timeline. I have paid you a total of $8,680, which is $1,480 over what is stated in the lease as the total rent for our rental period. It is condescending to assume that I have not read our agreement. I have already shared this information with you in email, to which you also replied to review the last page of my lease, disregarding that I had just informed you that the last page of my lease states I owe a total of $7,200 and I have paid you well over that amount. Please review your leases more thoroughly before having tenants sign them

  Those looking to lease with MECA need to be careful when reviewing the contract. There is NO standard way out. I am a third year tenant. I received a job offer in another city. I took this offer but soon realized that there was no way to be released from contract. No early termination clause nor mutual agreement buyout. They have been gladly taking my money for 8 months without providing help in what most would call a common circumstance. Although I moved to a new city, it was my full obligation to find somebody to take over my lease. If you can 100% guarantee your staying with MECA through the lease date then this is obviously a non issue. But nobody can truly guarantee such a thing. There will always be a possibility of a circumstance that requires a tenant to move.

  Partner and I stayed in a Meca house for a year. Very smooth experience.
