Great place to live! Great staff! Very convenient to all of Wilmington and Leland
I lived at Westport Lofts for about a year and a half. There are definitely positives—the amenities are nice, and when I first moved in, the staff was great. However, it’s worth noting that everyone mentioned in earlier positive reviews (Krista, Seth, Heather, Eboni, etc.) is no longer there, and the experience changed over time.
We initially lived in a large 3-bedroom, top-floor apartment in the front building. The layout was great, and we loved the wraparound balcony. Unfortunately, there were a couple of ongoing issues. You could clearly hear traffic from 133 and US-17, and there was a persistent smell of weed coming from under the primary bedroom sink. Management at the time was aware of the issue and confirmed they could smell it as well. There were also multiple occasions where I smelled weed while sitting on the balcony.
Shortly after moving in, I even found a skull-shaped Mylar bag that smelled strongly of weed near the side entrance. Management said they were required to turn it over to the police.
When the townhomes became available, we transferred units hoping for a better experience. However, the issue didn’t seem isolated. I’ve spoken with several other residents who also reported ongoing concerns about the smell of weed, even providing photo evidence of smoking on the property.
Toward the end of our lease, I sent management a video showing two individuals smoking joints outside a nearby townhouse on a Saturday afternoon. The video was never acknowledged, even after I followed up a few days later.
Overall, while the property has strong amenities and started off with a positive experience, the lack of consistent management follow-through—especially regarding resident concerns—was a major factor in our decision not to renew when our lease ended on April 1. Unfortunately the previous manager Krista B. has moved to another state, several months ago and is no longer with Westport Lofts, not sure why her name is attached to the response.

I just moved into Westport Lofts this past weekend and love it! Eboni and Heather have been amazing throughout my leasing journey. I know these girls stay busy but they keep a smile on and show up. I hope they get the recognition they deserve! The maintenance supervisor is also great and I appreciate him! I love that you can text with the property if it isn’t something urgent and general questions. The resident portal app has a community page for residents which is awesome! Residents here are super nice. The amenities are top tier! I’m happy to call Westport Lofts my home (:

This review reflects my honest experience as a long-term renter. I encourage prospective residents, especially pet owners, to carefully consider management responsiveness and move-out policies before signing a lease.
Update: After posting my review, I received partial documentation but no complete follow-up from the property manager. To find resolution and receive a response, I ultimately had to contact the regional manager, Amanda, who was professional and responsive. She explained that carpet replacement is generally the community’s preference rather than attempting cleaning. I appreciate her communication.
Original Review Condensed: I lived at Westport for nearly a year. Initially, the experience was positive, the amenities were appealing, and the office and maintenance teams were responsive. However, after the previous community manager left, the quality of management declined significantly.
I have lived in eight apartment communities over the past twelve years, nine including Westport, and this was the most challenging resident experience I’ve had. Any issue requiring the community manager’s involvement lacked follow-up and required repeated outreach on my end. When I inquired about breaking my lease, I sent five follow-ups over several weeks before receiving a response (from another staff member). I ultimately paid approximately $3,000 to terminate my lease early due to the ongoing lack of responsiveness.
On move-out, I asked whether the termination fee would be my final charge and was told management would confirm. I never received follow-up and later discovered an additional $471 charge for carpet replacement, despite living there only one year with no damage beyond normal wear and tear.
The property itself also had construction concerns, including cracking areas in the foundation, loose cabinet hardware, unfinished baseboards, and inconsistent upkeep, specifically with pet waste, both inside and outside. Notably, the “secure” key fob system did not function during my residency, resulting in a stolen package from the “secure mail room”.
To be fair, Eboni and Seth were professional and helpful whenever they assisted me. I would encourage you to work with Eboni as much as possible, as she is timely and thoughtful in her communication.

Just toured the property with Heather yesterday and was absolutely sold! She has been so helpful during the application process, despite it being so close to NYE. Really hoping I get approved and get to be part of this amazing community!
