  First I would like to say I'm a regular customer at Shively Animal Clinic I've been a customer for years today I called about putting my cat to sleep she is suffering and I've done everything that I can do but she will not pass on. When I called Shively they said that someone would call me back with a price after waiting and waiting and waiting no one ever called me back so I called them back again finally got to talk to someone and they told me it would be $125 mind you my cat is suffering and I'm a regular customer I was fine with the 125 but then she told me how they just closed 20 minutes ago I said well I just got off work it's the soonest I could get there and I said well can I bring her up now they said yeah you can bring her up now but it'll be an extra $100 making it 225 I told her I only had 125 in our friends the loving Shively Animal Clinic would not budge would not help me out although my pet is suffering and I've been a customer for years. They told me no it was still be the 225 so I hope everyone who is a customer or thinks about being a customer there reads this if you value your pet and love your pet whom I trust with my pet at the end of there life . I hope no one gets in this situation and thanks that Shively Animal Clinic is going to actually care about them or their pet because let me tell you they're not I was shocked to hear her say sorry we can't help you for our regular cost because we closed 20 min ago so it will be an extra 100 dollars. Shively Animal Clinic does not value you as a customer or your pet I would really consider if I were you finding a veterinarian that actually cares about the animals that they vowed to take care of thank you for reading

  Shively Animal Clinic is what it is. They are affordable and give your pets good care but they are overwhelmed by the sheer volume of patients they get daily. The wait can be more than several hours long. I usually drive over early in the day of my visit and “check in” and they will call back to tell you they’re ready for you. Once you check back in from your callback you will still have probably a 30-60 minute wait in the main waiting room, which can be a chaotic place. They do their best, but if you value your time it is probably best to fork over the extra money at a smaller vet.

  This is the only vet in the city I take my pets to, as they're the only affordable pet care I have found. Their intake is some of the safest procedures I've seen, and their staff is very caring.

  This clinic exceeded every expectation I had. My girlfriend and I brought our cat, Jasper, in after he began throwing up blood and having serious stomach issues, and we were understandably terrified. Although the wait was about two and a half hours, it was absolutely worth it. From the moment we arrived, the staff showed genuine care and compassion—not just for their patients, but for everyone in the room. At one point, a man in the waiting area had a medical emergency, and the team responded immediately and professionally. Seeing that level of urgency and humanity really spoke volumes about who they are. Throughout Jasper’s stay, we received daily updates and clear guidance on his treatment plan, which gave us so much peace of mind. Dr. Marsha was especially incredible—kind, attentive, and deeply compassionate toward both Jasper and us. It never felt transactional; it felt like they truly cared. Within just two days, Jasper was well enough to come home, and the difference in him is remarkable. He’s back to purring, acting like himself again, and it means everything to us to see him feeling better. On top of all that, the clinic was very fair and transparent with pricing, only charging when necessary, which we truly appreciated during such a stressful time. I cannot recommend this clinic—and Dr. Marsha—enough. I’m beyond grateful for the care they gave our cat and for the kindness they showed us. This was one of the most positive experiences I’ve ever had at a veterinary clinic. Thank you for giving us our happy, healthy Jasper back.

  Dr. Joyce saved my little yorkies life after she figured out what was wrong with him! She treated his symptoms very aggressively, and was honest everytime she discussed his prognosis with me. She also made sure I understood what was going on. His care was prompt and affordable. Needless to say my baby Charlee Murfee is back to his normal happy self! Thank you so much Dr. Fuchs as well as all the Shively Animal Hospital staff, Charlee and I appreciate you all more than words can explain 💗
