Single dads who pay child support and have a work comp claim, no income and you went into arrears BEWARE! My lawyer for my work comp case took it upon herself to send a letter to the county child support office and told them I was getting a settlement and heard i was in arrears. The only reason she knew is because i asked her if child support can touch my settlement, which wasnt much. This all happened after I agreed to the settlement, signed everything including my resignation paper. There was no discussion about child support intercepting beforehand. She knew i had kids, she knew i paid child support until I had surgery but nothing was said. I could have refused the settlement, let my former employer fire me, which is what would have happened and I could have recieved unemployment and made payment arrangements with child support who I was constantly updating. The child support office told me they do not even know why she would send them a letter. They never dealt with this situation before. The settlement money has not been released yet buy my settlement was enough to cover my arrears. I could have used that money to save my house but now im going to be homeless. I dont expect anything to change, just like all of my taxes returns, my kids mother will get all of my settlement while I live in my 91 Buick. I dealt with 2 surgeries over 8 month period in 2025. The first surgery was canceled in late 2024 as I missed 2 1/2 months of work because I cound not stand for very long so the child support accumulated but how I pay it should have been up to me, not fields. What she did felt very spiteful and I dont know why she contacted the county on my behalf. She was working for me! Not the county i live in and she isnt suppose to be a mediator between me and the county!! So I lose my job, have my settlement intercepted, lose my house but HEY! I still got a coffee mug! Thanks, Field's. If for some reason Fields does something in their power to make sure i get my entire settlement I will delete this review. For now, you guys who went into arrears because you were injured at work, id find another work comp firm. It started out pretty good but as soon as I signed I felt they were working against me.

Before picking field law look at recent review they really only care about a pay out i have been dealing with workers comp for years now and feild law has "been on my team" for aleast a year. But they know nothing about my case and every month or so mike or really one of his underlings asks me if i just wanna try to settle because thats one of the only ways he gets paid, my case shouldn't be settled for very clear reasons and another law firm confirmed that. Thses guys might have been great at some point but they dont care anymore thats why all the recent reviews say very similar things of radio silence and misguided guidance

I contacted Fields Law regarding a potential Hartford LTD/ERISA disability appeal. Before signing a representation agreement, I asked for written clarification about practical issues involving LTD, SSDI, unemployment benefits, possible return-to-work decisions, closed-period/back-benefits strategy, litigation obligations, and possible fee exposure.
After a follow-up phone call with a firm representative, I decided not to proceed. In my opinion, the tone of the call came across as dismissive, condescending, impatient, and unnecessarily defensive. One specific concern was that my final clarification questions were characterized on the call as “another 20 questions,” even though my understanding was that I had sent a focused list of approximately 10 practical questions before signing. That characterization felt exaggerated and dismissive to me.
I also did not feel comfortable being encouraged to sign the representation agreement first and discuss certain concerns afterward. For me, that was a major red flag. Before signing any legal agreement involving sensitive medical records, disability benefits, SSDI, unemployment, and possible litigation, I need clear written answers and a communication style that feels respectful and aligned.
I did not sign the agreement and chose to seek other counsel. At this point, I do not believe any follow-up phone call would repair the breakdown in trust and communication necessary for an effective attorney-client relationship.
