Wilson Law Group began with one objective: to practice immigration law with clarity and creativity. This goal inspired the founding of our firm in 2003, and it remains our purpose today. Our immigration law attorneys and legal staff offer professional, efficient, trustworthy and empathic representation for clients navigating all types of immigration challenges. Based out of Minneapolis, we serve clients nationwide.
The reason I wanted to meet with WLG is because I saw this on their website “Wilson Law Group understands that immigration issues are about more than the law. It is about meeting the needs of a growing business, securing key personnel, uniting family, and keeping people safe. It is deeply personal and requires an individualized legal solution that meets your need.”
and felt that they would have patience, care and sensitivity when it comes to immigration issues. However this was not my experience.
My appointment was with David and at the very beginning of the appointment he asked where the client is. I responded with saying that the client is not here, they are at work. I could tell that he was visibly frustrated with that answer and I completely understand. He made a great point about how things can get lost in translation when he is giving advice about legal issues and it’s important for the client to be here because it is their case. I then explain that I would have to translate for the client anyway (also the client works 10 hour shifts a day, so we don’t have the luxury to take a day off) and let him know that the client was a little apprehensive about showing up because the issue is quite sensitive and David then responded saying “I’m not the police.” I awkwardly laughed it off however, I thought they would understand that this is a sensitive issue and even though you are experts in your field, you are still strangers to us.
The very next question David asked me was how old I am likely because I look pretty young and I would have been fine with this questioning however, there were no pleasantries exchanged at the beginning of the meeting. There was no “how are you? What’s your name?” It left me feeling really cold with the interaction and it seemed really transactional. I completely understand that he is very busy and I am not here to waste his time and I really appreciate the free consultations and the work he does. I also want to say that my meeting was originally with a different attorney. It was then moved up by half an hour to be with David.
After telling him the situation from the beginning to the end, David was really attentive and asked clarifying questions. I then brought up an article that I saw a news outlet release that morning and David proceeded to cut me off and say that he is an expert in this field he knows what is going on, I do not need to bring up articles to him, especially ones that he is a source on. I did not know he was a source on this, nor was that my intention at all. The reason I brought the article up was to make conversation and a connection and hope to make the meeting less awkward. I then said that the reason I brought the article up was to make conversation and I am trying to use this opportunity as a learning opportunity to understand more, I know that he is an expert and sorry.
Then David kept mentioning that the client needs to be the one that shows up and I do think that he had good intentions, he was giving me advice about how he has seen this a lot and if the client really cares then they need to be here and I cannot be the one that is taking care of this situation for them. I do truly believe that David had good intentions in giving this advice. In turn, I did start to get a bit teary eyed. I believe that David thought I was getting upset because of the client not showing up and me doing all the work. However I was getting upset at how awkward, uncomfortable and cold this entire meeting had been. I should have let David know that the reason that the client isn’t here isn’t because the client doesn’t care. It’s just a very nerve-racking and stressful situation and rightfully so they are allowed to be a bit apprehensive. It is my fault that I didn’t bring this up and I should’ve said something but at this point, honestly I just wanted the meeting to end and get my advice from him.
With that being said, David gave sound advice and is a great lawyer and researcher. I think we just started off on the wrong foot and have different styles of communication.

I’ll highly recommend Wilson Law Group. My lawyer Molly from Wilson Law Group was really helpful throughout my whole process. She explained everything to me and guided me every step of the way. She was also very kind and made me feel comfortable.
I got my green card within just two months of filing for adjustment of status, which was amazing. Everything went smoothly, and I truly appreciate her help.

I had issues the first time with them charging me fees that were already paid. Decided to hire them for DACA, called several times and waiting more than half an hour waiting for an answer. they might be closed this week or something because no one has picked.

I am very grateful to the Wilson group, especially to attorney Molly, as she was very efficient, effective, and professional with my husband's habeas corpus petition. They didn't give me false hope from the beginning; they were honest with me, and everything went very well until the end.
May God always bless this wonderful group and these excellent professionals.
