I, unfortunately am one of those cases you hear about where the family, no matter how long it has been, keep having disputes that result in them returning back to court. It has been a strenuous and tedious process. However, each time I have needed Mr. Campbell and his team, they are right there to guide me through the process in the right way.
I will be the first one to tell you that the "right way" may not always be what I want to hear. Throughout the years Mr. Campbell has given me much advice that has been difficult and when this first started I had grand delusions lining up with what one will see on TV. Yet the truth is, it's not like that. These cases are nasty. They affect marriages, children, loved ones across the board often leading a person to want to act in emotion rather than logic. When a person may be in their emotions, that is the time when sound logic is needed the most....that is exactly what Mr. Campbell has been.
He has been the lawyer that doesn't tell me what I want to hear but what I need to hear. He advocates for the law, what the documentation says, which in reality is to protect the child. To this date, he has not steered me wrong and I am grateful that despite the situation that led me to his office, that I can rest knowing I am getting sound advice.

I had a highly disappointing experience with attorney James Campbell in Shalimar, FL. From the start, there was a noticeable lack of empathy and professionalism in handling my case. Communication was particularly poor—Mr. Campbell seemed to prefer emails over direct conversations, even when clarity and resolution were needed.
He cited post-COVID protocols as a reason for avoiding in-person meetings but also admitted that he simply prefers a more casual approach. Unfortunately, this approach led to ineffective communication, including a situation where, instead of addressing a disagreement directly with a phone call, he chose to send a harshly worded email. This demonstrated a lack of professional listening skills and an unwillingness to resolve concerns in a constructive manner.
Additionally, I was frequently left uninformed about important developments in my case. It became apparent that the firm’s priorities leaned more toward financial gain than genuinely advocating for clients. If you are looking for an attorney who will keep you engaged and fight for your best interests, I strongly recommend seeking representation elsewhere.
Update: This response from you, my former attorney comes across as highly unprofessional, defensive, and lacking in empathy. A professional attorney should maintain a neutral, objective, and respectful tone, even when addressing conflicts with clients. Here are a few key issues with this response:
1. Lack of Professionalism – Instead of addressing the concerns factually and professionally, the attorney resorts to belittling language, such as “continual verbal beratement” and “Ponzi scheme???” (with unnecessary punctuation). A professional response would focus on facts rather than personal attacks.
2. Defensiveness – The response is more about justifying their actions than acknowledging your concerns. A professional attorney would simply state the facts of the case and their reasons for withdrawal without making it personal.
3. Breach of Confidentiality – While they may be within their rights to explain why they withdrew, their language seems to reveal too much about internal office dynamics and discussions, which is unprofessional.
4. Failure to Address the Real Issue – If you raised concerns about their lack of empathy or ethical conduct, this response does nothing to address those concerns. Instead, it shifts blame entirely onto you.
5. Bias and Emotional Tone – A seasoned attorney should be able to handle difficult clients (if that were the case) without making it about personal feelings. The fact that they felt the need to include a staff member’s opinion (“this is something that has never happened before”) suggests an emotional reaction rather than a professional one.
A more appropriate response would have been factual, concise, and free of emotion—something along the lines of:
“We regret that we were unable to continue representing Mr. Goff due to irreconcilable differences in expectations and communication. After notifying him of our decision to withdraw, we followed standard procedures to transition his case. We wish him the best moving forward.”
Best wishes, Mr Campbell to you, as well

Before I hired Mr. Campbell for my divorce case I went over all these reviews and now I feel the negative ones are actually true and the positive ones are reviews from friends. I didn’t feel this office or Mr. Campbell were interested in helping me. Due to lack of communication from his side and omitting information from me, I informed him I no longer want him to represent me, but after a call with him I was promised things would get better. Two months later things didn’t get better and after paying a good sum of money for nothing I again informed him I no longer want him to represent me listing reasons why. At this point I understood that 30 years of experience doesn’t meant this office and the lawyer are organized and competent. I constantly had to follow up and resend information and got charged for every correction and follow up. It would be too much to share everything on here, and I have no business in telling someone how to run their business. However, I won’t be doing business with someone who makes me start thinking that they are actually working for the opposing party when my property is at stake. Although I didn’t get any value for the money spent and I’m very disappointed, I learned a few valuable lessons. This is a well deserved one star.
Response to the comment: With all due respect, I didn’t need or expect pleasing nor someone to bent over backwards because of me (although I don’t believe anyone was doing that anyway). That’s not what I was paying you for. I expected open and reasonable communication, being informed about what’s going on and next steps, clarity on legal concepts, and most importantly I expected things not to be hidden from me. I expected a lawyer, and not someone who constantly deflects. As you remember, no one told me about the mediation dates being requested by the mediator. I found out about this almost a month later by accident as I was cc’d in the email and there were screenshots about the original email from the mediator with dates requested/proposed. The email was sent to you and Stephanie and no one responded (possible neglect?). No one from your office even filed my financial affidavit after I submitted it almost a month earlier. When I asked you about this (in writing) no one replied. The whole case is in emails and in writing so I’m surprised you go that far to write here that no lawyer might not be able to meet my expectations. My expectations were not unrealistic. I believe there are some good lawyers out there. I hope you take this review as a feedback from your former client and consider some improvements rather than deflecting. Your comment speaks for itself.

Seemed like a nice enough guy but wanted me to go procure the documents needed for him to do his job ….. I run a business and figured that this is what I was paying him to do. I also had to pay them $100 just to find out this firm is no one I would ever use or recommend, my family deserves better attention and action than what was offered here.
+ the documents you requested were the court documents in regards to my case, we never even discussed it, when I explained that I had no knowledge beyond knowing my children were taken from their mother he was dismissive and not helpful . Its strange how Mr. Zasada. ( another family attorney) was able to answer my questions and develop my case in a timely pleasant manner.
