We have had items stored at this location for 5 years. All was well under the previous owners. Once Spare Box purchased the property then the price started going up every 6 months. We were paying 2.5 times more than they were offering for new rental agreements yet they would not lower our price. We rented a new unit next to ours and move our belongings which cut our cost by 2/3. Literally we had had the unit for 4 years and they made us move to get the “current” price.
8 months later we were notified that our lock was not secure. We had two locks on our unit. Turns out, someone had broken into our unit and stolen more than $6000 worth of items. We filed a police report and the site manager told the detective that it was too much trouble to look at the video footage to see who had stolen our property.
We have removed our items from this location.
In addition to the theft, there were two ladies with units around ours who were sleeping in their units and/or in their vehicle outside of the building. All very odd yet the manager did not seem to deal with it.
All said, I would remove your items from this location if they have any value!
Cheers!

Do not do business with this company. We had items stored here for 5 years. Never missed a payment. When it was privately owned it was great. Then they sold to Sparebox and it is complete garbage. You can’t get any help from anyone if there is an issue. You call customer service in Colorado (or wherever) and they won’t give you a way to reach anyone at the actual location. And by issue, someone went into to our storage building, cut off the locks and took our items then locked our unit open so they could come back for more later. We had to work with the local police ourselves as Sparebox says they have zero responsibility. Also, before the robbery, we’ve had to move our stuff 2 times since we started with them, as they offer pricing that is reasonable then raise the rent every 6 months by 20-25%, but if you cancel and rerent as a new customer and move your items to a new unit, you get the lower price again. But then instantly they start raising the price again. We went from $90/mo to up to $260/mo for same unit 3 years later them moved to a new unit for $94 in November and it’s already up to $110/mo and all for them to have zero responsibility to protect our stuff or monitoring whose doing what. We moved our stuff out and to a “mom and pop” locally-owned place. Sparebox doesn’t care. Our friends who had things there a few years ago while in the process of moving from US to Europe (they came back and everything was infested with mice) warned us and we wish we would have heeded their advice. Oh also, make sure you are set up to autopay monthly or they add $12/mo to the bill. And good luck changing your autopay credit card as they don’t have an easy way to do that without calling and prepaying for the next month.
Based upon the response to this review from Sparebox, I call BS. They raised our rent every 6 months the entire 5 years. Case in point, in November our rent was $94, in January $110, in April $132. That’s not once a year. And now neither our insurance company nor the police detective handling our robbery from the unit can get them to release video footage. Sparebox says they don’t have footage. Then why are there video cameras? I’ve called their customer service number so many times and they open a ticket about our robbery from our unit and close it the same day with nothing done. They could care less. Your belongings are safer in your car than they are at Sparebox but of course if you are storing a home while you travel for 5 years, that won’t fit in an auto. The worst part is since we’ve been back at the unit 4 times in the past 3 weeks while moving our belongings to a place with someone on site, we’ve encountered someone sleeping in the unit close to ours, someone sleeping in their car beside our building and people running a shipping business out of the unit next to ours. So obviously this is not a safe place to store anything other than worthless junk. And who is stupid enough to pay $240/mo to do that. We aren’t.

Why do I need to have insurance coverage for my unit?
Many tenants ask why we require tenant insurance or a protection plan. In our decades of self-storage experience, we have witnessed too many instances of tenants losing their valuables without recourse. Events like fires, natural disasters, and burglary, while rare, can leave a tenant with nothing when there is no insurance or protection plan in place.
