Made a quick weekend call to inquire about availability, since few are small-engine repair shops are open today. A crass businessman answered without identifying the business, which quickly set the tone. He quickly started browbeating which only reinforced the sense that this was a small, informal setup. While providing what I believed was pertinent information to my issue, the man was interrupting me while answering questions, and dismissing the core of my issue, which felt very heavy-handed and unnecessarily forceful. I believe most of these reviews are either inauthentic, bought or artificially generated. Ultimately I told him I was uncomfortable doing business, and was hung up on before I could finish my one sentence of feedback. I won't opine on the impact of his behavior beyond saying it did not inspire confidence, which felt worth noting publicly. Disclaimer: This review was proudly not AI generated.

I took my mower here on Saturday at 12 I told him to take his time with fixing it because I had borrowed another. Then at 5:30 I got a call to come and pick it up by 6:30. Well I was there along with another person, I had to call at 6:35 to see where he was at, he told me he would be right there. He brings me back for my mower that is when he has me the customer put the air filter back on and I had to find my gas cap. He said he fixed the carburetor, changed to oil and it runs. Well how did he know it would run??? I brought it with a full tank but when I got it, the tank was bone dry, and as someone else had mentioned it seems like he was more worried on how old the fuel was( I just bought the gas that day.) well ten or 20 pulls later it started… kind of idled way to low to cut grass, and continued to sputter till it died. He (the owner) said that is normal till the fuel makes it through the lines… I paid him (way way over priced) but at this point I had a feeling that he maybe a little tipsy, not to mention the arguing that he and his wife were doing. Got it home and I tried it the next day same thing happened, so at this point I remove the carburetor and see that it was never touched (all the bolts still had dirt on them and so didn’t the carburetor.) from other posts I can tell I will never see my money back, so I ordered a new one and put it on and BAM it works perfectly. Long story short DO NoT GO HERE!

⭐☆☆☆☆ – Save Yourself the Time, Money, and Frustration My experience with A-1 Lawn Mower Repair was one of the most frustrating customer service experiences I have ever had. I dropped my lawn mower off on May 26. Rick told me it should only take a day or two and that I could call for an update. On May 28, I called and was told the mower was running and ready for pickup. When I asked how much I owed, Rick repeatedly avoided answering the question. After multiple attempts to get a price, he eventually told me to come get it. Hours later, I was told the bill would be $230. I was shocked. For that price, I could have put that money toward a new mower. Rick claimed the carburetor, filter, and labor were the reason for the charge. He then mentioned that because I was military, he wouldn't charge tax, almost as if he was doing me a favor after presenting a bill that seemed excessive for the work described. The first red flag should have been that there was no gas in the mower when I picked it up. I couldn't even test it before leaving. I was told to test it at home. After filling it with gas, the mower would not start at all. That began a nearly week-long cycle of phone calls, excuses, promises, and wasted trips. I brought the mower back the next morning. Nobody was there when I arrived at the time I was told to come. After multiple calls, I was finally told to leave it inside the gate. Days went by. I called again and was told Pat was in the hospital and that I needed to wait. I waited. Then I was told the mower had been started and was running fine. When I arrived to pick it up, it wouldn't start. Again. I was told it had been running earlier that day, yet when I tried it myself, nothing happened. Once again, there was little to no gas in the mower. Gas was poured in, and it still wouldn't start. Pat then began working on it in front of me, changing spark plugs and troubleshooting issues that supposedly had already been fixed. If the mower had truly been repaired and tested, why was it still sitting there unable to start? I was then told they needed another day and that the mower would be delivered to my house. That delivery never happened. No phone call. No update. Nothing. The next morning, I drove back to the shop yet again. I was told the mower was fixed. Once again, I attempted to start it. Once again, it didn't work. At that point, I had spent more time driving back and forth to the shop than they appeared to have spent actually fixing the mower. I ended up standing around for nearly three hours while they continued working on it. This was after already being told multiple times that the mower had been repaired and tested. The entire experience left me questioning whether the mower was actually being worked on during many of the days I was told it was. Every time I called, there seemed to be a new explanation, a new reason, or a new promise that it was running. Yet every time I personally showed up, the mower would not start. When I finally requested a refund, Rick initially offered only $100 back from the $230 I paid for a repair that never successfully fixed the mower. After a lengthy discussion, we agreed on $130. When I counted the money afterward, I discovered I had only been given $120. To make matters worse, the photos show electrical tape being used on wiring, and the carburetor I was charged for replacing appears to be the exact same carburetor that was already on the mower. The only obvious new part I could identify was the air filter. In the end, I paid $230, made multiple unnecessary trips, spent hours waiting around, dealt with constant communication issues, received conflicting information throughout the process, and never left feeling confident that my mower had actually been repaired. I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel obligated to share this experience because I don't want someone else wasting their time, money, and patience the way I did. There are plenty of lawn mower repair shops out there. Based on my experience, I strongly recommend finding one of them instead.
