I am submitting a formal complaint regarding my recent experience with Arona Home Essentials, which I believe involved deceptive practices, mishandling of my application, and potentially discriminatory conduct. I completed an in-store application and was informed that I was approved. Based on that representation, I proceeded in good faith and made a payment as required. I provided all requested documentation and fully complied with every step of the process. However, when the scheduled delivery date arrived, no one showed up. I also did not receive any courtesy call, update, or communication explaining the delay or issue. This lack of professionalism and communication is unacceptable, especially after payment had already been collected. When I contacted the store, I spoke with the manager, Olivia, who then stated that my application was still “pending.” This directly contradicted what I had previously been told—that I was approved. After I followed up again seeking clarity, I was ultimately told that my application was being denied. When I asked for a clear explanation for the denial—particularly after I had already been told I was approved and had paid—she stated that she could not provide a reason. This situation raises serious concerns. Collecting payment after representing that an application has been approved, then later reversing that decision without explanation, may constitute deceptive trade practices under the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act (DTPA). Consumers are entitled to truthful, accurate information when making financial decisions, and businesses are prohibited from engaging in misleading or false representations. Additionally, denying an application after payment has been accepted, without providing a legitimate or documented reason, raises concerns under the Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA), which requires that applicants be given a clear explanation for adverse decisions in credit-related transactions. Even in rent-to-own agreements, if approval decisions resemble credit determinations, these protections may apply. The inconsistent explanations, lack of transparency, and refusal to provide a reason for denial also create a perception of unfair or discriminatory treatment, which is deeply concerning and unacceptable in any consumer transaction. I will be reporting to the Texas Attorney General’s Office and the Federal Trade Commission.

Wouldn't sell me a Laptop cause it didn't have a charger. Very Crazy that they even had a Laptop that didn't have a CHARGER. I was assuming it was new in box. RENT A CENTER is way better. BETTER PRICED! and have 6 months as CASH! ARONA was too expensive anyways.

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! From the manager Olivia, to the half of my order that was delivered. The day I brought my money in to place my order the manager Olivia had her nose turned up the entire time. Her attitude is horrible. I ordered a TV and sectional. TV was supposed to be delivered that Friday of the same week we ordered, but no. We were told they didn’t have time it would have to be next week.. took that. We get the TV and the TV is store locked. Couldnt do anything! Called the store, they didn’t have the code and were told we would get a call back. Never did! We figured out how to factory reset the TV and we called them back to let them know we did their job. Fast forward, we get a call a week later our sectional has made it but it wouldn’t be delivered until the following Thursday (another week).. okay cool. We were promised that we would be the first stop that Thursday morning, but of course we were not. Fast forward to the delivery day Thursday, We called from the time they opened at 10 AM to 1 PM and were constantly told the delivery driver is headed out, he should be calling you shortly with a ETA, blah blah blah. Same thing every call. We get a call about 2 PM and now they’re saying the 2nd delivery driver was never there, he called in. They would have to come tomorrow, instead of communicating this 5 calls ago at 10 AM we were lied to the entire day. This conversation was with Olivia, the manager. I express to her I’m irritated about the entire experience and she says “I don’t like how you’re speaking, I might just cancel your order. I’ll give you a call back” I’m beyond livid at this point! She never returned my call to even confirm if they were or not going to cancel my order. So here we are Friday morning, I have to call them back ONCE AGAIN. Olivia tells me word for word, she canceled my order because she wanted to. She doesn’t like the way I speak. I’m in tears at this point because none of this right or fair. I ask for her managers contact info and told her I would be reporting her. I spoke to Kevin the regional manager. I explained everything that happened and he advised he would try to work something out and give me a call back. He still hasn’t spoken to her and I still have yet to receive a call back. So now I have no furniture, back at square 1 because of there TERRIBLE MANAGEMENT AND CUSTOMER SERVICE. As a manager, if you don’t like what you do or don’t know how to treat upset customers because of your doing.. GET ANOTHER JOB. I WILL NEVER GO BACK HERE & WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND ANYBODY. 0 STARS!!!!
