    I just needed to look and brainstorm. I wasn't ready to come in and make a purchase yet. The salesperson was extremely annoying and forcing me to give him my personal information, my marital status, my email and even social security number. I didn't want to share that and was not ready to buy, and I let him know that several times. I ended up just leaving.

    UPDATE - 6/24/2026: After months of inspections, service appointments, delays, and conflicting information regarding the condition of my custom sofa, Star Furniture has informed me that the manufacturer officially acknowledged the sofa was defective and issued Star Furniture a full credit for the merchandise. Despite the manufacturer’s determination that the sofa is defective, Star Furniture has refused to provide a refund and has instead limited my options to store credit and other alternatives that require me to continue doing business with the company. What I find particularly concerning is that this matter is being treated as though it were a standard instance. This is not a situation involving buyer’s remorse, a change of preference, or dissatisfaction with the style, color, or design of the furniture. The product delivered to me was determined to be defective. Throughout this process, I repeatedly requested that Star Furniture evaluate my claim based on the specific facts of this case. Instead, I was consistently directed back to the company’s general custom-order policies. I also requested a written explanation addressing why a manufacturer-confirmed defect should be treated the same as a standard custom-order return, but no case-specific explanation was provided. At this point, I no longer wish to continue doing business with Star Furniture. As a consumer, I find it difficult to understand why I should be required to accept store credit after receiving defective merchandise, particularly after the manufacturer acknowledged the defect and issued Star Furniture a full credit. I believe customers should be aware that, based on my experience, even a manufacturer-confirmed defect may not result in a refund. That is a reality I never anticipated when making such a significant purchase. What has been most disappointing is not the defect itself, manufacturing issues can happen with any company, but the response afterward. When a retailer is presented with clear evidence of a defect, customers should be able to trust that the company will prioritize a fair resolution. Unfortunately, my experience left me feeling that policy was given greater weight than accountability, fairness, and customer satisfaction. After months of effort to resolve this matter, I am left with a defective sofa, no refund, and the expectation that I continue a business relationship with the company. That is not the level of service I expected, and it is not an experience I would wish on another customer.
