We tried to rent a unit at this facility, and ultimately changed our minds before signing the lease and were granted a refund. When you rent online, which they strongly encourage, all Extra Space Storage facilities make you pay before you can see the lease. After prepaying four months because we saw online and were told at another Extra Space location that prepaying locks in your rate for that amount of time, we noted that the lease stated all leases are month to month and can change with 30 days notice. Additionally,
the lease stated that advertised dimensions of the units are approximate and units vary slightly by size and shape. The document also asked me to attest I had personally seen and inspected the unit. How do you inspect a unit you rent entirely online? I went to the office the following morning during their regularly posted hours to see the unit and discuss the lease. I arrived to a front door boarded with plywood and had to step through broken glass on the ground. Nobody was there for the half hour I waited, so I left a voicemail and left. I received a callback several hours later and a voicemail assuring me “all of their 10x15 units are exact size,” and inviting me to return to the office that day to see the unit I had been assigned. We returned later in the day (the ground was still covered in glass). Nobody there. More calls, and the manager returned. She gave us a temporary code to go view the unit on our own. It was approximately 8 by 17 feet. The dimensions and the amount of floor space were significantly different than what we were sold. We went back to the front office only to find that it was again locked with no one inside. We called again- twice- no answer, so we went back to the car to wait again. The manager returned and gave us different information than what she left in the voicemail. All of their “10x15s” are the size we saw (8x17). Thankfully, because we had not signed the lease, we were able to have our money refunded. The blatant dishonesty, poor customer service, and disregard for customer safety didn’t leave room for me to make any decision other than leaving.
