  In a time where most shopping is done online and when most humans are so connected to their devices that they forget how to look another human in the eye, one’s shopping ‘in real life’ expectations can fall pretty low. Well, The Container Store on Post Oak Blvd sent them soaring again. What a lovely experience. I was greeted immediately when I walked in by a smiling human. I had a very specific need that ended up not being available to purchase outright but with the help of an incredibly patient and lovely associate (or manager ?) named Chris, we were able to build something custom that worked perfectly. Another very friendly associate was hospitable even during the check out process. This experience helped to restore my faith in humanity.

  Besides the understandable failure to fully track inventory during a chaotic clearance sale and major store makeover/downgrade this is bad review is mostly directed at corporate and/or the spectre of Bed Bath and Beyond that seems to have taken over the Container Store, rather than the employees at this particular location. That said, a store that is/was all about tools for organization should be a little more organized when communicating about the status of online orders. An email that say that an order for in store pickup is ready implies that all item are ready unless clearly stated otherwise - and I don't considering having to scroll down and notice a single word in the middle of the list of items orders as being clear that over half the order is missing. As such I drove way out of my way to pick up items that were in stock at a closer store, as the missing items that I had hoped to get were only in stock at this store. I don't appreciate wasting time or gas, and I hope that whoever is now in charge at corporate fixes their email formatting to better communicate the status of customer orders. That said, I'm not sure if I will be back anytime soon regardless. While there was still a limited selection of classic Container Store products like Elfa and a Like-It, the place is starting to look more like the trendy displays at Target than the practical (if at times upscale) solutions to storage home organization problems that the Container Store carried for decades.

  This place is the worst. Constantly out of inventory that they say they have in stock online. Existing inventory is cracked and damaged. I don’t know how this place stays in business.
