I had a very disappointing experience with this company.
My delivery was already delayed by one day. When the grass finally arrived, it was left in the front yard despite clearly requesting it be placed in the backyard. Because of this, I had to urgently hire someone to move it myself to avoid delaying my scheduled installation, which cost me $45 out of pocket.
Communication was also very poor. I tried calling and texting multiple times, but they were largely unresponsive and did not take responsibility for the issue.
On top of that, the quality of the sod was below expectations. The pieces were very fragile and difficult to handle without falling apart, which made installation more challenging than it should have been.
Overall, this was not a professional experience, and I would not recommend their service.

We hired Kevin to correct drainage issues in our backyard and to install new sod in the back and a small area of the front in the early spring of 2023. He provided quotes and we agreed on the work. While we are satisfied with the function of the drainage solutions, we are NOT satisfied with Kevin's promises to return and replace sod that did not grow properly. He continued to respond with "give it a little more time to grow" and now, 7 months later will no longer respond. We are left with patchy sod in the places that we originally identified as not good. Additionally, his crew did not properly prepare the yard for sod install as I personally spent the majority of the summer pulling up our old grass type where it grew between pieces of sod. Kevin's crew also damaged our irrigation and the "repairs" provided were not satisfactory and we have had to pay for irrigation repairs on top of our payment to Amazing Creations. The final comment is that Kevin did not listen to us when we let him know that we would have the Belgard walkway removed (for another purpose) where they needed to run drain pipes. Instead, his crew caused a collapse of the walkway that was only 4 months old at the time and the repairs completed were not of the same quality as the original walkway installation. Shame on me for trusting that he would make good on his word and warranty. Hindsight lets me know that part of the payment should have been withheld until we were completely satisfied with his work. I cannot recommend Kevin and/or Amazing Creations.

Initially my interactions with Kevin and his crew were positive. He came out and gave me an estimate for installing some French drains. When the workers arrived, I went ahead and requested some additional footage to go ahead and really solve both sides of the drainage around my house. The work was performed and the drains do a good job of what they are supposed to do. In the meantime, the workers put two large dents in my A/C security cages (only saw this after they left and I had paid) and when covering back up the trenches covered the lines with lots of gravel. When I initially asked him about fixing this so that grass would grow back, he stated he would come and rake it. But as soon as I paid, he has virtually disappeared and been completely nonresponsive. It's been over a month and I still don't have grass growing back where they dug, all because they didn't rake all of the gravel out once they were done. I've sent pictures and texted Kevin multiple times showing him the issue, and also called, and he has not reached back out. He took the money and ran, basically.
Do the drains work? Yes. Am I happy with the job and quality of work performed? No. When you pay as much as I did for the work, you expect end to end service, with no damage to your existing property. I did not get that, and I doubt you will either. Go with someone else.
Frequently Asked Questions About Amazing Grace Garden Center
How often should I water my sod?
When watering your sod, the amount of water you use depends on how long it’s been since it was installed. It is important to note that you need to water your sod immediately after installation to prevent it from drying out. Then, during the first two weeks, water your sod multiple times per day to help the roots establish themselves in your soil. Around the three to four-week mark, you then want to reduce how often you water your sod while watering it for longer each time. This deep watering will ensure the moisture reaches the root zone of your grass, so it can continue to develop stronger roots. Water your sod early in the morning to reduce evaporation loss.
When can I mow my sod for the first time after installation?
Your sod needs time to establish roots in your soil after installation, so you don’t want to mow it too early. If you end up mowing your sod before it’s developed strong roots, you can end up damaging your grass, and it'll have a tougher time recovering. Ideally, you want to wait around two weeks before the first mow. Then when you mow it for the first time, make sure you cut back on the watering the day before. That way, the grass can firm up so you can successfully run the mower over it. Make sure you’re not removing any more than 1/3 of the top of the grass blades when you move your sod.
When can I use my lawn like normal?
Usually, newly installed sod takes about a month to fully establish itself in your soil and become strong enough to endure regular foot traffic. If your sod hasn't developed strong roots when you begin to use it, then you risk damaging it and jeopardizing its progress. To check if your lawn is ready to be used like normal, you can test it by gently pulling on the grass. If the sod ends up lifting off the ground, then your lawn is not ready to be used yet. However, if it’s hard to pull the sod out, then that means the roots are firmly established in your soil, and you can start using it like normal.
What are the best grasses for North Texas Lawns?
There isn’t one perfect grass. Bermuda, St. Augustine, and Zoysia are all great choices for North Texas but every North Texas lawn will present its own challenges. Consider your situation and make the best choice for your residential landscape. Consult with a landscape design professional, like us here at Amazing Grace Garden Center, to review your options.
Are French drains the best solution to my drainage problem?
French drains can be very effective for collecting and absorbing groundwater under certain conditions. However, the absorption may occur slowly due to the clay soil we have here in N Texas. In some circumstances, installing French drains may worsen your drainage problem.
French drains also require a bit of maintenance to keep the aggregate clear and functional. This maintenance is hard to perform when the purpose of a French drain is the collection of surface runoff as opposed to subsurface saturation. Contact us to evaluate the specific circumstances present about your property and make a recommendation, which may or may not involve French drains. We will help you understand why French drains may or may not be the best way to address your situation.
How does gutter and downspout maintenance affect drainage?
Consider the size of your roof and the fact that it does not absorb any rainwater. Your roof displaces 100% of the water that lands on it! This water is usually discharged from downspouts right at the foundation of the structure. If downspouts are obstructed, the entire gutter will overflow in areas right against your foundation. In many cases, a properly functioning gutter system with downspout drain lines that dependably discharge the water away from the structure is the best (and first!) line of defense against water damage, water entry, or foundation issues. Contact us to discuss your unique situation.
When should I water my lawn?
Water in the early morning (before sunrise) when water pressure is greatest, evaporation is minimal and the lawn drinks in the most water. Do not water in the evening because water will sit on the lawn and may cause disease. Do not water in the heat of the day because the sun will evaporate water before it can soak in. To water your lawn efficiently, you need to provide the right amount of water, evenly distributed, in the right places and at the right time.
What is the best type of sprinkler head for what I need?
Homeowners commonly ask us about the different types of sprinkler heads and other system components that go into a sprinkler system installation. This question can be best answered following an evaluation of your property and its needs. Not all irrigation systems are created equally so call us today to schedule an evaluation.
Do I need smart irrigation?
Smart irrigation is all the buzz right now but it’s truly for good reason. With water at a premium, it’s important that we aren’t being wasteful and we’re using it wisely. We get so many questions about whether smart irrigation makes sense, but the short answer is that all homeowners could benefit from a smart irrigation upgrade. That’s because it will save you from hassles and headaches and will ultimately save you both money and water (which go hand in hand).
What can I do to reduce my water bill?
If a high water bill out of the blue, it could be a system leak. But if it’s consistently high and you feel like you could be saving money, then Upgrading to smart irrigation can start to save you money by ensuring that your property is watered more efficiently.
How often should I water my sod after installation?
Water your sod immediately after installation, then multiple times per day for the first two weeks. Reduce frequency to deep watering after three to four weeks to promote root growth, preferably early in the morning to reduce evaporation.
When is the right time to mow my new sod for the first time?
Wait about two weeks after sod installation before the first mow to allow roots to establish. Water less the day before mowing to firm the grass and avoid cutting more than one-third of the grass blade height.
When can I start using my newly sodded lawn like normal?
Usually, you can use your lawn like normal about a month after installation when roots are strong. Test readiness by gently pulling the sod; if it resists lifting, it is ready for regular use.
What grasses are best suited for North Texas lawns?
Bermuda, St. Augustine, and Zoysia grasses are well-suited for North Texas lawns. Consult with a landscaping professional to choose the best option for your specific landscape needs.
Are French drains effective for drainage problems in North Texas?
French drains can be effective under certain conditions but may be less efficient due to North Texas clay soils and require maintenance. A property evaluation is recommended to determine the best drainage solution.
How important is gutter and downspout maintenance for drainage?
Properly functioning gutters and downspouts that lead water away from your foundation are crucial to prevent water damage and foundation issues. Obstructions can cause overflow and water accumulation near your home.
