- EAEllie AvaSep 30, 20261.0Unfortunately, I did not have a positive experience with the cashier during my visit. The cashier, who appeared to be an older woman, was not very friendly or welcoming. I initially tried to make small talk with her and assumed maybe she was simply having a bad day, so I didn’t think much of it at first. However, when it was time to pay, I paid with cash and her reaction made me very uncomfortable. She appeared reluctant to handle the cash, and when she gave me my change, she placed/threw it onto the counter rather than handing it to me. The interaction felt dismissive and uncomfortable, and I left feeling as though I was being treated differently because of my appearance/skin color. I understand that everyone can have a bad day, but customers should still be treated with basic courtesy and respect. I hope management will take the time to address this because no customer should leave a store feeling unwelcome or uncomfortable. On the positive side, there are plenty of other stores and parking options in the surrounding area, so there are alternatives nearby.

I came in to get some supplies to make a gift, and to just walk around. As I started doing so I felt like I was constantly being watched by the employees. I tried not to let it bother me, for as long as possible. As I was looking around I started to take pictures for the Christmas decorations for inspiration. I didn’t think it was a big deal, but apparently to the hobby lobby employees it was. Someone called over the intercom about theft prevention in the section that I was located in, ( I was the only one in this area). Shortly after a male employee walks over to the area and starts “working” aka trying to watch me. I finished taking my pictures and checked out. And like always when you get to the front the cashiers look at you crazy, as if their job isn’t to check people out. But that was honestly the least frustrating part of my experience today. I’ll stick to Michaels from now on.
