My experience with Mid-Florida was not a positive one. They removed limbs from my neighbor's tree, without permission to help position their bucket truck. This was after driving onto my neighbor's property and leaving a large truck tire trench/divot in their yard (which is still there today). After work was done, they left some trimmings on my roof and in my neighbor's yard along with their lunch trash. They also broke a PVC sprinkler pipe on my neighbors yard when they drove on it which I had to pay to replace. I was embarrassed for how they treated my neighbor.

We are very happy with the service received by Mid-Florida. After contacting the office, we got an appointment for the arborist to come for an estimate quickly. He was on time and very professional. We received our estimates online and after accepting, the office called and scheduled our work to begin within 2 days. They arrived as scheduled and did a great job. This company was recommended by a good friend and they are also used frequently in Temple Terrace. We will definitely use them again in the future.

Would use them again if I had any trees left! They were professional and timely. Cleaned up very well when done and when a small bit of damage occurred they took full responsibility and had it repaired professionally. Would definitely use them again.

I've had so many contacts with local tree trimming companies they wouldn't show up to do a quote or honestly leave you feeling a little uneasy. Frequently Asked Questions About Mid-Florida Tree Service, Inc.
Why should I have my trees pruned?
Proper tree pruning offers several benefits. It helps maintain and improve branch structure, rectifies poor branch formation, minimizes potential hazards, allows arborists to closely inspect the tree, and enhances overall tree health by removing dead, diseased, or dying branches.
Is tree topping healthy for trees?
No, tree topping is not healthy for trees. This practice, also known as 'heading,' 'tipping,' or 'dehorning,' involves cutting large portions of a tree's crown. It's considered improper pruning and can be harmful to a healthy tree's growth and structure.
Is moss a danger to my trees?
Moss itself isn't dangerous to trees. As an air plant, it doesn't harm healthy trees unless it completely covers the foliage, hindering photosynthesis. Unlike parasitic plants such as mistletoe, moss doesn't penetrate the tree; it simply attaches to the outer bark.
Is there something you can do to keep moss growth down?
There's no need to control moss growth. Both Spanish and ball moss are natural in Florida's ecosystem, and nature typically limits their growth on healthy trees. Excessive moss removal efforts are usually unnecessary.
How do you remove moss?
Regular pruning naturally removes some moss. While it's normal to have Spanish moss in Florida trees, excessive removal isn't recommended. Hand-picking or spraying can be done, but these methods may potentially harm the tree and prove costly without significant benefits.
Will mistletoe kill my tree?
Yes, mistletoe can be lethal to trees. As a parasitic plant, it deprives the tree of essential nutrients. If not removed, mistletoe can eventually cause the death of the host tree.
How do you remove a stump?
Our preferred method for stump removal is grinding. We use specialized equipment to grind the stump below grade level, which means we grind it deeper than the surrounding grass line. This is typically the most cost-effective approach.
Should tree cuts or wounds be treated or painted?
Current research indicates that treating or painting tree cuts isn't necessary. While this was once standard practice, we now understand that a properly made cut on a healthy tree will heal naturally. It's best to allow the tree's natural healing process to occur without intervention.
How often do trees need to be pruned?
For most shade trees, pruning every three years is generally sufficient. However, the frequency can vary depending on the specific type of tree and its individual needs. We recommend consulting with us about your particular trees for tailored advice.
When is the best time of year to trim my trees?
Most trees can be trimmed at any time of the year, as the old saying 'when the pruners are sharp' suggests. However, certain trees such as fruit trees, flowering trees, and ornamental species may have optimal pruning times. We can provide specific guidance for your trees.
Why should I have my trees pruned?
Proper tree pruning helps maintain branch structure, minimizes hazards, allows close inspection, and improves overall tree health by removing dead or diseased branches.
Is tree topping healthy for trees?
No, tree topping is harmful and considered improper pruning as it negatively affects a tree's growth and structure.
Is moss harmful to my trees and how do you manage it?
Moss isn't harmful unless it fully covers foliage. Regular pruning helps remove some moss naturally; excessive removal isn't recommended.
Can mistletoe kill my tree?
Yes, mistletoe is a parasitic plant that deprives trees of nutrients and can eventually cause their death if not removed.
How do you remove tree stumps?
We prefer stump grinding using specialized equipment to grind stumps below ground level, which is cost-effective and efficient.
Are tree cuts or wounds treated or painted after pruning?
No treatment or painting is necessary; healthy trees heal naturally after proper cuts without intervention.
